Sticks & Fishing Line

We're going fishin' today.  Yes fishing.  Fishing in a stream, fishing in our dreams.  A picnic basket packed with treats, and big straw hats and pickled crocodile's feet (just kidding, but it rhymed)….

Actually, we are fishing Through the Secret Keyhole (in our little nook in the fanciful attic, something out of the ordinary for today).  And perhaps, we are up to a little mischief behind the scenes too.

Carnival 8

Oh yes yes, can you guess?

Carnival 20

I'll give you a hint.

A week 18

Trees, Lace, Peaches, Pages, Rope, Fabric & Treasure…

A day 16

And, because I have an urge for some piratey fun, I have a little loot gift from the grand ghost ship, for anyone who guesses what it is that I could possibly be up to today?  Oh, and this ain't no ordinary gift.  No siree.  It includes vintage treats, of the wearable variety, and other colorful findings. (and if no one guesses, I will pick a number 😉

3 random things.

1)  I love love.

2)  I love treasure, of the found variety.

3)  I love waiting for the mail everyday, like I am waiting for something important.  Even when there is no reason I should receive anything but junk mail 😉

I love snail mail.

ps:  First photo, and more at my other bloglette, borrowed from the Denver Post Plog.

  1. wende says:

Um… you’re slinging a hammock to read and eat peaches in? Yeah, I know… nowhere close…

  2. faerwillow says:

~are you creating an oasis…treasure island maybe…or maybe a gypsy caravan…sounds like the most delightful way to spend the day…happy fishing! warm wishes and brightest blessings~

  3. Lorelei says:

Hi Vanessa..could the gypsy caravan be making another appearance? I hope so.. :0)

  4. Rhonda Roo says:

    Oh! Um…uh…oh i know:
Southern gypsy pirate homecoming week with peach pit spittin’ contest?
    I’m close aren’t i? 😛

  5. Miss Linda says:

Are the faeries and dolls making an apperance? Are they coming by gypsy caravan?
I hope they make the trip safely and without danger. If they are, I welcome them home.

  6. Sherry says:

The gypsy caravan with a puppet theater among the peach trees? Maybe the puppets are going fishing…..hum….
    Sherry

  7. Molly says:

When you said fishing line and sticks and gypsy theatre I instantly thought of that scene from Disney’s Robin Hood where they trick Prince John into stopping for a fortune telling with their “glowing orb” (full of fireflies) on a stick and then they rob him blind…or clothesless as it were. 🙂

  8. Marfi says:

hmmmm…are you making a kite?A pirate fish kite?yeah thats dorky…my first thought was puppets getting together to have peach cobbler…haha

  9. Anna says:

Are you playing in the gypsy caravan….oh and perhaps….maybe….planning/fishing for something wickedly delightful for All Hallows Eve?!!

  10. Jerri says:

You are creating a hammock tented oasis under your beautiful peach trees!
    ~ Bleumoon

  11. Lynn says:

Trees, Lace, Peaches, Pages, Rope, Fabric & Treasure…
Hmmmm, I sat staring at that line, and the photo of the gypsy caravan and, well, I have no clue but I’m sure it will be fun whatever it is. I can’t wait to see!

  12. Sarah says:

I have no idea what you are up too but it is sure to be fun! I loved the post on your other blog that you linked to and must remember to go through the keyhole there more often! Pirates, peaches, treasure and balloons. Hmmm. x

  13. olivia says:

are you making a giant peach into a pirate ship with little ropes and nets and pulleys, and sails made out of lace? 😀 and when the tides arent strong baloons lift it up in the air so it can float away?
    just a guess 😉
    x

  14. Linda Diane says:

Hmmm, dear Vanessa, I think what you are up to is none other than trying to drive us all mad, absolutely MAD, I tell you! Trees, Lace, Peaches, Pages, Rope, Fabric & Treasure . . . . Are you going to be sitting among the trees wearing some of your jeweled treasures, eating peaches, billowy fabric dancing overhead, reading from the pages of the lovely depression era book, all the while making a lariat out of rope and trying to lasso a few of them varminty gophers only to dress them in lace and make them play Jane Austen lives with you and Mr. Matty? Aha!I thought so! : D

  15. Cant even guess. But I love your posts, the intrigue, your amazing photos…..LOVE the white lovelies hanging on the line:) Cant wait to find out what the answer is……

  16. Lori says:

Why I think you must be relaxing in the afternoon sun reading a tale of treasure chests full of heavenly peaches! 🙂

  17. Theresa says:

Vanessa! (insert whine here) I’m clueless! Perhaps you and Mr. Lovey will be creating a wonderful video for us – two gypsies strolling among the trees. You sit in the caravan, draped in beautiful white lace eating a peach while Mr. Lovey swings in on a rope, donning a velvety fabric cape. He has a satchel filled with small treasures but also papers on which he has professed his undying devotion to his Miss V. No? LOL Well, I gave it my very best guess!
    xoxo Theresa
PS I love waiting for the mail, too! Sometimes I am awfully disappointed when there are no treasures being sent to me. But today I was happy to receive the new issue of Artful Blogging…hurray!!!

  18. Sophia says:

Hmmmm…how about prepping for the 2010 Halloween Party?!?!! It’s really not that far off! 🙂

  19. Janel says:

I think you are preparing the Gypsy Caravan for a shin-dig! Treats and spells, and mischief from the Mister are to be had…I feel it. Perhaps the caravan will be a Pirate Ship for a spell indeed, yes siree, tweedle dee, see it has happened to me already, dear me….wheeeeee……
I sure hope there are fancy cupcakes at the end, mmmmmmmmm

  20. I think it sounds like you have traveled incognito( cleverly dressed as a pirate yourself) to Neverland to battle in couragous sword fights with Captain Hook and the rest of the pirates, and then playing Hide and Seek Treasure Hunt with the Lost Boys. And what would it be with the peaches. I know FOOOOOOD FIGHT!!!!!! Peaches make great splatters especially when shot with slingshots.
I want to come. OH please Oh please. It sounds like so much fun. Of course I could be completely wrong but that is what comes to mind

  21. Alia says:

Circling the gypsy wagons for a show? Dancing around the fire under the moon with brightly colored scarves swirling. It is so funny because earlier today before I read this I was looking at pictures of people’s gypsy wagons on flickr and dreaming about owning one and having a gypsy camp with other mysterious souls. You would be invited of course! You should have a gypsy blog party, I bet everyone would come!
ps. I heart pirates very much!

  22. Well, Miss Vanessa
I have no clue in the world whatever it is you are up to…maybe a treasure hunt, or you are making another video with Mister Lovee for the fun of it in the Gypsy Wagon…or maybe it is his birthday…or you are getting ready to post goodies you are making…
If you stirred everything together that you mentioned you would have a big gooey mess…peaches, lace, rope, oh, bother…
Or it is just one big party…or you have opened your shop (IN THIS HEAT!!) I don’t think so.
Whatever you are doing it must be lots of fun!
    Cheerio
    =^..^=
    I’m being ‘catty’ today.
    Miss Teresa

  23. I’m going with something piratey for the Halloween bash V! I can’t wait to see what you’re up to! I’m off…through the secret keyhole…
    Jamie 🙂

  24. I hope you pick a number…because you KNOW I am never good at riddles! Sounds like a fun day..I want to go fishing! 🖤🖤🖤

  25. WEll, I have one more guess…
It is Matty’s birthday…isn’t he about one year old now???
    hee,hee…
    Miss Teresa

  26. Nelly says:

Hmmmm sounds mysterious! Could you possibly be making a peach pie to enjoy under the trees of your gypsy land? And along the way fishing for beautiful treasures to adorn your gypsy dwelling… Whatever it is you have up your sleeve, I’m sure it’s mad:) (and I mean it in a good way:) hehe

  27. Jill James says:

You are reading a poetry book under the peach trees where your antique, lacey victorian nightgowns are swaying on a sisal clothesline…..the treasure is God’s beautiful gifts all around us.

  28. How many guesses do we get? : )
I get it now…You are taking a video in your Gypsy Wagon Theatre, with Mister Lovee while you are putting on another little play for everyone to enjoy.
    Whatever…
    Miss Teresa…sigh

  29. I know what it is…truly I do…
It is the one year anniversary of when Mister Lovee gave you The Gypsy Theatre wagon…and you and Mister Lovee are celebrating it!!!
    Yay!!!
many hugs and best wishes for many, many years to enjoy your Gypsy wagon.
(I couldn’t go to see until I figured it out!)
    love you lots!
    ~Miss Teresa~

  30. That should have been “I couldn’t go to SLEEP until I figured it out!”
    nite, nite
    Miss Teresa the night owl

  34. Maggi says:

I say you’re up to mischief…has that been guessed yet??? LOL
I L-O-V-E getting (and sending) snail mail!!! It’s the best! 😀

  35. Cori says:

    James and the Giant Peach?
    😉
I don’t know if I guessed right, but it sounds fun!

  36. Jill James says:

You’re putting a sail on top of your gypsy wagon and wrapping the peach trees in lace! Old pages and new treasure adorn the outside…

  37. Krista Komis says:

Hmmm…my first guess was that you two were up to no good and were putting on another silly puppet play (so silly, but I love them!) But where does the peach fit in…actually that does sound like James and the Giant Peach, with balloons tied on birdies, a peach and such. I love that movie. 🙂
    -Krista
P.S. I wait for the mail everyday too, even when I truly know it’s only going to be junk mail. 😉

  38. Krista Komis says:

OH! And how ironic, my mom was eating a peach while I was commenting! (We never have peaches in this house you see) Spooky! 🙂

  39. I don’t know but I can’t wait to see !!!!!
    Take Care,
    Tracy M.

  40. marjorie says:

I simply cannot guess! But I know it shall be a magical, fanciful event beyond words!! 🙂 Your such a treat! 🙂

  41. Sylvia says:

Trees, Lace, Peaches, Pages, Rope, Fabric & Treasure…
Hmmm…you just finished your laundry, hung the lacey nightdress’s outside on the rope line to dry and now you are going to sit on some pretty fabric among the trees reading a book full of mysteries and treasures, slowly turning the pages while you eat a peach? hahaha
I cant wait to hear what it is..
    Sylvia

    LATELY?
    well,
    i am re-reading it now

    before the summer is over…

  43. Oh oh oh SPF, I saw the old movie twice this summer… yes
indeeeedy!! I love it, I should read it again too, xoxo

  44. Well, I have one more down to earth guess…
You are picking peaches from your tree, and hanging your laundry out. Sweet and simple.
    Cheers!
    Miss Teresa

  45. Krista Komis says:

oh oh, what about a pirate carnival? You are so unpredictable, I have no idea! 🙂

  46. Kym says:

Hmm, I have no idea what you are up to, Miss Vanessa – but talking of peaches, I know you love your recipes, so here’s a fab salad one – just layer chunks of peaches with rocket, parma ham, mozzarella cheese and mint leaves – and dribble a dressing over it all of mayonnaise, chilli sauce and lemon juice – fab! and so refreshing! Can’t wait to hear what it is you are up to! x

  47. GG Pinkster says:

A whimsy windy theatrical show under the old peach tree,
with pages of love songs written for thee. The sailing ship is ready for flight,
The drums are rolling as it starts mooring in sight.
Remember to wear your lace and stockings,
as the pirates are coming and treasures are knocking.

  48. Laura says:

are you putting together a play perhaps? with pirates? 🙂
    blessings
    ~*~

  51. Jill James says:

you’re building a pup tent for the gophers and serving them fish sticks! (ar-ar)

  52. Alice says:

I’ll bet that you are taking the gypsy wagon on a journey through forests and hills, and valleys. You’ll most likely be eating juicy peaches along the way, and telling stories to whomever stops to listen. You’ll dress the part in your lace and velvet, and your tales will be of journies past.
I can’t wait to hear what it is!!!!

  53. Maia says:

Will the dolls be giving a theatre performance? Perhaps in a magical outdoor setting with curtains of lace, under the trees and the caravan. There will be peaches for the audience. 🙂
    Maia
