One of my most favorite places to escape to is Through the trees…
(this is the second piece in the series)
My imagination holds this wonderful place dear. A clearing before the woods, where from time to time traveler's stop for a rest.
You might get to meet all sorts of wonderful people coming from a magical place deep in the woods, or, on their way there.
For what lives beyond the woods, is well, the most wondrous place you can imagine…
The moon illuminates fluffy moist clouds, creating the most curious glow of evening moonlight. Traveler's stop to rest, and build a fire…
Inviting anyone at all, to stop and roast some homemade marshmallows, while guitar strings fill the air…
Through the Trees, on a very enchanted evening…
I took some photos through a magnifying glass below…
As it was impossible to zoom into the tiny little details.
I have spent many many months inside of this piece.
Going to a place, only the imagnation can take a person, really.
I have slept inside the wooden wagon, charming as can be. And made toast in a campfire, while music drifted in on misty waves of gentle breeze – with sounds a bit like the magical tunes of a child's piano dancing through the trees…
There is lovely hot tea served by these most kind hearted folks, and the tales they can spin, oh my!
Through the Trees ~ Enchanted Evening
The second piece in this series.
16" x 20" x 1.5"
Now available in my online shop, right here.
(the first piece in this series sold last year, and lives in a place very very far away)
I am so glad to finally get to share this piece – after almost a year. I put in the sky and the trees and the wagon right away. And outlined the people.
Then I waited to put in the moon and the stars, and the billowing skirt.
You have to be just in the right place, where you can crawl into a piece, and really be there, to bring it all together. At least, that is how my brain works 😉
Now, if only we could all get together right in the painting… And head through the woods to the most amazing place imaginable….
Will I see you there?

Oh my gosh…Vanessa…
Those trees are spectacular, dreamy and everlasting! They go on and on forever! I so want to live there…waiting for a visit from the gypsy wagon.
Every teeny tiny brush stroke on this canvas is crazy amazing. I just love the branches and limbs of winter!

That’s a really sweet painting Vanessa that really gives the viewer a sense of calm and peacefulness. And I love the blue caravan:)
I’m not sure if you are familiar with the artist/sculptor Pascal Tirmant but I really think you’d love the gypsy caravans and the life he gives them~

Oh Vanessa! The first piece in this series was divine. I have the print hanging in my gypsy dressing room. But now this! A real gypsy theme along with Through the Trees!? I am dyyyying. This is amazing! Some of your pieces, well mostly all of your pieces, take me someplace else. They really do. It’s as though it’s somewhere I have been before. Nostalgia and a weird sense of magic all rolled into one. This is really just incredible. Thank you for sharing it 🙂
Vanessa, this painting is absolutely breath taking! XO
Just lovely V. I absolutely LOVE the trees and sky and clouds. Wonderful job!
This is stunning!!! I love it, I want to step into the picture and never leave. SOOOO pretty.
Thank you for sharing.
Your blog always brightens my day and adds a touch of magic. 🙂
Your piece is lovely. It would be very easy to step into your painting…the moon lights a path through the trees!
OMG – this is the most beautiful painting you have ever done! I want to be there. So dreamy!!!!
Vanessa,
There are no words to adequately describe how wonderfully talented you are. Each painting draws us in to another world of beauty and promise. I love how this is the 2nd painting in a series. ((hugs)) from snowy Canada!
Beautiful.
I love the caravan. I want one.
Such eautiful pictures! They make me feel so serene!
OOOoooo me wants to live within your gypsy caravan and sleep away the next 2.5 weeks. Love love love the painting. Missing you and all your magic. Soon I shall have a wee home of my own again. Been a bit of a gypsy myself since selling our home, but actually I am doing quite well with having left it…we parted on very good terms, me hugging and embracing the walls that held my family together for 23 years. I thanked the house for being so good to us. I am looking forward to having stairs to give me happy thighs; the cats are too, but for other reasons. Off to soak in a few more of your beautiful posts before Bad Little Alice gets home. **kisskiss** Deb P.S I no longer have the cox e-mail address since moving. I have e-mail at Yahoo.com (deborahbauernfeind)
This is your loveliest painting yet, I think. From the time I was small, I wanted to travel in a caravan:
The gypsy maiden!
Eyes outlined with kohl.
Lips reddened with the juice of a berry.
Long hair seductively tangled.
Slender fingers bejeweled with rings.
A swirling skirt of silk.
A bewitching peasant blouse.
A gold nose ring—and ear bobs too.
I would be the most sought after girl in the land!
I hope you will sell this painting in your shop soon. I LOVE your artwork, and look forward to reading your eclectic posts.
Most definitely, my magic chariot awaits… just as soon as the mundane releases me from it’s power at the 5 o’clock whistle blow.
Such a magical and stunningly captivating painting!!!
Have a great day,
Always, Queenie
This post has officially made my day. Seriously Vanessa, you are amazing. I absolutely love this painting. With the little wagon and the beautiful landscape and kindered souls sitting by the campfire…well, it is truly the best place my imagination can find. I will definitely meet you in the Enchanted forest for tea in the gypsy wagon 🙂
So breathtaking! I love this piece, V.
xoxo Jess
I am jumping into your painting right this very instant! I know you have such a sense of satisfaction that it all came together so beautifully. Oh, I do wonder what is on the other side of those trees! Maybe a future painting will reveal that to us? : )
Vanessa! This piece is just so so magical!!!! At first I was so drawn to the trees – and then that magical gypsy wagon. And the revelers and those clouds!!!! I truly love this painting, Vanessa. You put so much hard work into it and it really shows!!!! xoxo
“The time will come when winter will ask you what you were doing all summer”……….
Older people are so concentrated……they don’t have to talk any more. I love older ladies, mainly because you can be yourself and they are over themselves (usually)…..I sat across from a 102 (yes!) year old at a pretty formal luncheon and was laughing so hard with my head thrown back & felt her staring at me. She was so twinkly & approving – she clicked me into something in her and I didn’t want to quit looking. I loved the feeling I got from her – it couldn’t have been said in words.
Your Mr. Winter observer maybe just wanted to be in your Summer for a few moments……
this wanted to post here and not In the Now post (I think it wants to live in a gypsy wagon!)
Wow, Seester! Your artwork is so clean and detailed… so pristine! Great painting… Love the gypsy wagon!
Miss Vanessa, This latest work of yours is truly amazing. I feel as if I am in the Gypsy wagon myself. I can tell you’ve put your heart and soul into your work. Very well done.
A rough week and then I look at what you create on canvas and it beckons me to another happier place. Thank you for this lovely diversion! Such beauty you paint Miss Vanessa. Enjoy the weekend! <3
Yes YeS yes!!!! If you follow the tree line over the little hill you’ll see a fresh stream lined with bracken and ferns. My wee vardo is the one painted in pink and illuminated with firefly light. I’ll be waiting with for you with a steaming mug of Mexican Cocoa…yum!
Your painting is truly magical my Beloved Fanciful Friendling.
Much love to you, Cori
