Fanciful Drive on February 1st?

What about we take the day off, and head out for a kinda sorta fanciful drive around my neck of the woods?

Wanna?

Arizona 1

Ooooo, pretty Arizona mountains.

So lovely.

Okay, turn up the music…

(lyrics in ps: section)

Get your snacks.

Let's head out…

Oooooooo.

Scary fairy house, they say.

Arizona 5

Do you know the tale of this place?

Tell me, do ya?

Arizona 4

Lots of secrets hidden inside, I hear.

Especially on pink nights.

And what about the cellar?

Arizona 2

Arizona 3

Tiny house.

Water house.

Gnome hut.

Arizona 10

Hello Cotton Candy.

Best friend.

Arizona 6

Sherbet wheels…

Arizona 7

Past the magic gate.

Arizona 12

Guarded secret garden.

Arizona 8

Prayer.

Arizona 9

Little red…

Arizona 11

Come in, they chant.

Arizona 13

And then, the music…

Arizona 14

As you head down the path, on your way home…

It's Friday!

Why is that always exciting, even when you work from home?

If you love CocoRosie you can see the entire recording of songs and interviews from the snippet above, right here.

I highly recommend it.

Performing with Rajasthan Roots, French beatboxer TEZ, and Japanese multi-instrumentalist Tak.

So lovely.

This is my first week truly on the mend, feeling much better after two months of not feeling good.  Not fun for a gal who rarely gets sick. Christmas and New Year's with doctors was stinky.  I am so happy it is February 1st!

Hooooray!

Saw a new doc this week, loved him.

Life is winding and scary and hard and wonderful and exciting and magical.

All in one.

Here's to awesomeness abound this weekend.

I am itching to go rock hunting so much.

But I took everything out of my closet, so I best deal with that asap 😉

Love, V

Sparkly heart

ps:  The incredible lyrics to Fairy Paradise.

  1. Tiff says:

So happy that you’re feeling better. 🙂

  2. Kyra says:

You make AZ look nice! My parents lived my Phoenix, and after you shower with a scorpion and get caught in rush hour… it leaves an impression! 🙂

  3. Thank you sooo much Miss Tiff 😉 It is not until you fall ill with
scary things – and go through thatsorta nightmare that you realize how
intensely valuable your over-all health is (you know it, but a scare makes it so
real). And, it reawakens you to life. Wow, its been a
journey. Feeling good is such a gift. Happy Friday! 😉

  4. Kyra, Arizona has some really magical spots. Phoenix is a bit too hot
for me. But up here in the mountains and trees, I can hack it a bit
better. Just, dont remind me when I whine about 115 days in summer,
    haha!

  5. Laura Tieri says:

Thanks for the ride in a warm place. It’s too cold to go outside over here, wind chills below zero. At least it’s sunny right now!
I love that little building with the bell in the arched nook & the pink horse. Seems like he should have a horn coming out of his head. A pink unicorn!
I’m glad you’re feeling so much better. I just found a new Dr. too. I really like her.
We’re trying to figure out why I’m sooo tired all the time. She just took 7 tubes of blood out of me! And that was a couple days after I donated blood at my church’s blood drive. I hope they left enough for me! :o)
Back I go to my Valentine’s Day projects.
    Have a great weekend!

  6. Ooooo, blood tests, I have had lots of those too Laura. I got copies
of all of my charts etc. Luckily, everything looks really good on
mine. I am just glad the abdominal thing wasnt something worse – and all
the rest was reaction to Biotin related. Whatever you do, dont take
    Biotin.

Helloooo Miss Vanessa! Happy February 1st. 🙂 I am happy to hear that you are on the mend…hooray. It is not fun to be ill for an extended period of time. Glad that you are feeling like your fanciful self. I do enjoy CocoRosie – thank you for the video and the links. And also for the fanciful drive!!!! Enjoy the weekend. Wonder what the groundhog will see tomorrow? xoxo

  8. Diane says:

Oh, thanks for the enchanting drive around your neck of the woods. Hope you’re on the way to being healthy. Diane

  9. Kimberly says:

    Vanessa:
A magical journey. You have taken me to a place that I want to dream about. Cotton Candy horses, pink skies, well played pianos and stone buildings. I want to go to sleep right now so that I might have a dream that includes all of these wonderful things!

  10. Miss Linda says:

I loved the drive to the faerie house. It was nice, quiet, restful and sweet. I too am glad that you are feeling better.
It’s been a long while since I am feeling good but, I know that I am opening doors to get a good start on feeling good too. It sure wiped me out, still coughing but that takes time..
All the best for you and your family to have a grand weekend.

  11. Ruthinks says:

    Such gorgeous pictures!
I do want to know more…….. about the bell above the red door house, what the cozy resting horse is thinking……… What great tales would we hear?!
Healing thoughts going out to you and all of us who need them.

  12. Miss Linda,
I hope you feel back to normal very soon.
Last yearI got the flu, with the coughing for 16 days. Before
that I had not even had a cold in 5 years. SO, I know how you feel.
    Its the pits.
    Huge hugs!!!

  14. sj says:

It sounds like your health is headed in the right direction and I hope the mending continues.
The two little churches… what town are they in? the #2 mission and the #3 stone one…. #1 looks like something I could of seen in Taos or the barrio in Tucson. We like to visit “old” churches and I haven’t been to either of those; they are old for Arizona.

  15. SJ, hi there, they are both in Oracle, Arizona. Just up the road from
    me 😉

  17. Laura Tieri says:

How exciting! I ‘m selling some things on EBAY & I just sold a stamp set to someone in Arizona.
Have you heard of Dewey Ariz.? It’s always exciting to see where your things will be headed to.

  18. Marilyn says:

Thanks for the visit around your part of the world including enchanting music and fairy houses.

  19. So glad you are on the mend.
You like to go rock hunting???!!!
That was my childhood passion. I always wanted to find a geode, but never did. Geodes always fascinated me with the treasures they held within.
I adored my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Sorrenson, as she had lapidary equipment and would supply her class with the most wondrous polished rocks…Mexican lace, obsidian, purple amethyst, rose quartz, snow flake obsidian, which she would find on her rock hound hunting trips to the dessert in California, Arizona and New Mexico. Wonderful childhood memories I had with that wonderful teacher.
Hope you can go rock hunting! I adore your ‘fanciful drive’ photos!
    XO
    Miss Teresa

  20. Alia says:

And to think all that magicalness is just up the road from me! I haven’t explored Catalina much except going to Golden Goose, but all those interesting places are intriguing! Maybe I will have to take a drive of my own sometime.
I am so glad you are feeling better. It is funny to worry about someone you have never met in person, but I am sure all your readers feel the same!

  21. laura says:

so glad that you are feeling better! i loved the drive through your area…lovely sights!
    love & blessings

  22. sj says:

I used to live in Tucson and I have never been to those! Next time I get down there. Thanks

  23. Jenn says:

Ahhh so pretty! Love the spooky story Miss Vanessa. Just wanted to pop in to tell you that you’ve been extra inspiring to me today 😉 You’re whimsical decorating and eclectic tastes. I found a hugeee toadstool in the garden section today and bought it. I feel like Alice 🙂

  24. I can see that you are an expert at your field! I am launching a website soon, and your information will be very useful for me.. Thanks for all your help and wishing you all the success in your business.

  25. ~kelly says:

I have literally been watching that video on repeat for a week now. Amazing synchronicity. Vanessa, you have inspired my soul so much over the last 2-3 years. It is a dream of mine that one day I might be able to meet you, and to see your beautiful garden and cuddle your little fur family. I hope that doesnt sound terribly creepy from an internet stranger, but you are a household name around here. If you and Loveee ever open a bed and breakfast, me and hubby will be the first ones there 🙂

  26. My favorite is that little stone house with the keyhole/clovery shape cut out of the gate. Why did you take everything out of your closet?

  27. Hey….can you imagine? The bed and breakfast you and Lovee would conjure?
Ha! With Matty as professional greeter.

  28. Lalalalaura, I took everything out because I am insane 🙂 But mostly
because I wanted to just tidy it all up again. Order it up. Throw
out the junk that I have worn into tatters. Hard for me – I always see use
in everything. Mister Lovee always wants my soft old nightgown for
handkerchiefs. So I cut them up sometimes for
    him…..

  29. Ya, Matty would be on that show Hotel Hell 🙂

So happy to know that you are feeling better, Dear Miss Vanessa! I love the cotton-candy sherbet colors in your photos! That’s the palette that I saw everything in the time I visited Arizona! It was early March and there were dusty magenta cacti and chartreuse baby leaves on the trees, against peachy-pink adobe walls…so enchanting!
Please keep taking good care of yourself!
    Betty
