I have been working feverishly…
Between midnight painting and major birthday week fun, there are littles!
I am shooting for getting them into my shop this evening.
(although more realistically tomorrow)
I need to take pics etc.
Not sure if I will pull it off tonight, but there will for sure be new little creatures and dolls and faces in the shop within the next 24 hours.
I will come here and do a blog post about it before I list the littles in my shop.
They are getting last minutes sparkles, rapunzel hair do's, tutus, varnish, flower neck wear, ruffled collars…
You know, the necessary accessories in life 😉
I have a question though.
Honestly.
Besides your cat or dog…
What is your fave animal, and why?
I need to know.
The why is important too.
Looove, V
(back soooooon)
ps: My heart is really into killer whales lately. Between the movie Blackfish and Luna, I am beside myself with love and pity for those suffering. They have a need for socializing amongst them, and they love each other. They also are sooooo crazy smart, like dolphins too.
I love koala's too, they seem so loving and soulful.
And goats.
And and and.
Once I saw a show where a guy was crying over the love of his goats, and I totally got it.
Oh, and the shenanigans those raccoons get into!
Oh my!

Vanessa:
Happy belated birthday! Hope you had the best birthday ever. I have a sneaking suspicion that you are in for a fabulous 2014!!
Can’t wait to see all the new creatures. I love your sculptures. Mad Hatter is sitting on my cabinet surrounded by my vintagey, bleached bottle brush trees. He’s in the middle of Christmas chaos, along with some deer, a family of squirrels and even a tiger or two.
Honestly, one of my absolute favorite animals is the sloth. I adore their faces and their easy going, lazy attitudes. I envy their slowness. I am a fast fast fast girl. Always doing something, always frenzied. I dream of hanging upside down in a lazy stupor like a sloth.

Oh my goodness! I cannot wait! This time, I hope I make it in time to see all the goodies. 🙂 We are expecting lots of snow tomorrow – so I may be inside all day long (hoping to do some baking) What animals do I love besides cats and dogs? Wolves, owls, deer, goats…they are beautiful, intelligent, amazing creatures. The list goes on and on, really. But these are some of my favorites. 🙂 Enjoy your weekend!!!! xoxo
Oh! My!
I should have been watching the ‘signs’. I have been so bad about remembering anyones’ birthday this year…so terribly, terrible!
Happy, Happy belated Birthday Miss Vanessa. Gosh! How could I ever forget!
I missed both of my sister-in-laws birthdays too! It must have been the stressful year…too much going on. My bad! Thinking I might die on the operating table (back in September) really must have thrown my mind for a loop! Eeek!
I hope you had a very lovely day, with lots of attention from Lovee, and your furry boys.
I didn’t even bake a cake this year for myself for my birthday. I just didn’t have the gumption to do it. Just too much going on that my mind went blank for a while there.
love and kisses!
Miss Teresa
Oh so excited! Hope I will be able to be on the ball enough to add one or two little pieces to my Vanessa Valencia elfin collection 😉
When I was younger the Rabbit was my favorite. Then in a year of personal change I became very obsessed with Coyotes and have loved them ever since(not that I stopped liking rabbits and Hares).Later I learned that in the Hopi traditions the two are linked together and it made sense.A sort of ying and yang of my life, where I began and when I changed.Truthfully I love all animals but one, the rat.A bad experience in childhood forever made them vermin for me,though I still don’t want them to suffer.Love all your critters! Thanks for sharing with us!
I was really into unicorns back in the 70’s. I would travel through the greenery of the Santa Barbara Mts. and I believed because of the thick underbrush, that area would be a perfect place for unicorns to dwell. I still believe in unicorns! They were one of my favorite animals for quite a while. And I do love the vintage tapestries where unicorns are featured.
OH This is all SO lovely and exciting! I would so love to adopt one of your creatures! Can I answer for my daughter on the favorite animal question…she loves ALL animals beyond words, but…..Bunnies and Pigs….those are her particular favorites. She pretends to be a little piglet each morning after breakfast…tee hee. Of course she also has a soft spot of cats and kangaroos……perhaps there are too many to list!? ; )
Dear Vanessa,
I would have to say birds. For some reason, I really connect with feathered creatures as opposed to “furs”. My daughter and I saw a snowy owl the other morning on the way to the bus stop. Such a gift!
Cheers to you (and a belated Happy Birthday as well),
Dana
Happy Birthday! (somethings need more than just one day)
I have a thing for miniture donkeys. Mini horses are cute, but mini donkeys steal my heart.
Bunnies!!! perhaps it is because I have two bunny babies of my own. They are affectionate and funny and so darling and cute. They groom each other and snuggle together, they are very clean and litter box trained, so they are “out and about” in my home. In the evening, I find I end up watching their funny antics instead of whatever is on the television! They are far more entertaining than most shows on tv that is for sure. Happy Birthday to you Vanessa
Wait, when was it your birthday? I missed it? Shoot. Well happy birthday anyway!
Koalas and Sea Otters were always my favorite animals when I was growing up. I don’t really know why, I guess just because they are cute? I actually got to hold a koala when I went to Australia one time. The koala may have been sedated, it hardly moved, but I thought it was super awesome!
Also, lately I have been really into bees. They are so cute and helpful to our environment, and CCD is the worst!
Monkeys…because they are such rascals, and elephants because they are so cute and big (I love the iconography of them-some better than others), and bunnies because they are quiet and sweet and soft.
I can’t wait to see your new additions!
I love seals! The fuzzy white baby harp seals are sooo cute!
I think all seals have the most soulful eyes! There’s just something about those big dark eyes! They are so deep!
Happy Birthday week, V!!
My all time, favorite, love and cry and want to squeeze them even though they could squash me animal is the elephant. I’ve loved them ever since I was a little teeny tiny thing, possibly because the very first toy I received on the day I was born (in the middle of a wild February blizzard!) was a big stuffed elephant in a circus hat.
I still have him, 30 years later. 🙂 As an adult, I still love them because of all the emotions they portray, everything from love, to sorrow to rage.. there’s something so human in the way they behave and something so deep and wonderful and just, knowing in their eyes. I just love them.
I also love sharks. All of ’em. I think they’re some of the most amazing creatures around; these giant toothy fishes who haven’t changed much since they first showed up thousands of years ago. I stand by my opinion that they’re just cranky because they’ve got too many teeth and have a bad rap due to a few bad eggs. 🙂
And squirrels and hawks and crows… haha. I could name like a dozen more, but those are my most favoritest.
Hi Miss Vanessa, Happy Birthday to you….Guess what? We share the same Birthday week……mine is today…shhhhhh!
I love Faeries and elves, they are just wonderful and full of fun, mischief and magic and the list goes on.
I hope that I can catch up later with you to purchase something…! we are off to dinner and will be home about 9. I hope I hope I can catch one of your specialties. Your work is amazing and I hope that I can catch something this time. I’ve missed too many cute things. I think you are an hour behind me…. Hope your Birthday was amazing…
Frogs… they make the craziest drivers! Crows… yes crows… super smart, super lively, super naughty. Owls…. tops the list next to BATS!
Can’t wait to see what you have going in your shop.
Hugs,
Mario
It sounds like you are having a ball creating, Vanessa! Wish I could be a fly on the wall in your studio. : ) My favorite animal {after dogs} is bunnies. I love their softness, their cute little faces and how their noses scrunch up. I used to enjoy watching the baby bunnies play in our yard at the old house. They used to play “tag” with each other and I could stand there and watch them for quite awhile, jumping over each other and racing around the yard. This was when I would actually hear them making a noise {which bunnies are not known for when you think of them}. It was kind of like when kids get excited when they are going to be “caught” in tag.
Killer whales are actually dolphins 🙂 the largest species of dolphin, but a dolphin none the less. Wombats are my personal favorite. Because they are cute and well….wombat is fun to say!
I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I can’t wait to see what littles you have created! Hmm… let’s see, well, I love tigers, sharks, snakes, dragons, unicorns, haha! Really i love all animals (except a couple bugs that freak me out).
love & blessings
~*~
ps…hugs & kisses to Matty and Miles
Happy Birthday (belated) I do hope that it was spectacular! Horses are the most magical to me. They are so large yet gentle. So peaceful yet fierce. I do believe that if you look close enough all horses have the mark of a Unicorn. Happy Holiday season to you. Thanks for the joy you bring!
hi birthday girlie!
favorite animal? I seem to be attracted to the frog prince …even though I have already married my prince. 🙂
bunnies too.. I was born in the year of the rabbit.
but you said just one….I guess the frog will rule today. 🙂
oh … I have waited months for them to reduce the price on the Big Top Toad castle…can we say, Merry Christmas! http://www.grandinroad.com/big-top-toad-castle/outdoor-living/garden-decor/492351
…it’s adorable. Thought you might like. xoxo

Elephants…. They are the most amazing creatures, and yet so so vulnerable. I have loved them intensely since I was 3 yrs old. While I love all creatures, except for arachnoids, gross….elephants are just so so dear to me. I get physically ill when I hear how they are abuused or killed…. I absolutely despise circuses, and never ever will I attend one. They are just plain wrong.
And just because….little ponies. I DISLIKE very much seeing ponies going round and round attached to a ring, whilst giving children a ride. Almost always it’s a scorcher of a day, intense sun and no trees for shade. I scream inside at the atrocity of this. There are so many better ways to entertain children without the mistreatment or abuse of animals.
Merry Christmas Vanessa!
Baby Bears, Sloths, Sea Otters, Froggies, Mice, and Reindeer!
I am currently on Fanciful Shop Standby! 🙂
We had some baby racoons this one time (my mom worked at animal control for a bit). We got to bottle feed them. They were so sweet and mischievous. I miss them! 🙁
Happy birthday Ms Sparkles! I have to say, I’ve been thinking about Orca whales too. I hate that they are treated like pets to do tricks…no wonder they freak out sometimes and hurt their trainers. They are not meant to be in captivity! Ok…off my soapbox….I also love foxes; especially the red ones…so sweet and furry.
Birds…all birds but especially a beautiful, chattering, irreverent, Macaw. Talk, talk, talk, and fun beyond imagine.
I never forget a B-day…hope yours was beyond fabulous !
Hope you had a wonderful birthday 🙂
I love all animals but top of my list after dogs would have to be hares and stags. There is just something of a wild majestic air to them that speaks of freedom. If we can put birds on the list too I also love all the corvids, crows and magpies etc, and even though he doesn’t fit in that group the garden blackbird always makes me smile.
Birthday blessings to you! You sound like quite the busy bee. I cannot wait to see the lovely creatures! I love the female hummingbirds we have down here in Bahamaland. They are wicked smart. The male hummingbirds attack them mercilessly, but the females have figured out that the males are cowards, so they will follow my husband and I around close enough that the males won’t come close. We’ve even had one little girl come into the house. Snakes I love because they are just beautiful and sensuous and sinuous. Ospreys because they always look ticked off and like they are saying “Don’t mess with me today, son!” Stingrays because they are beautiful and friendly when accustomed to you. Sharks for the same reason. Frogs because they are so cute and I love watching them transform from egg to tadpole to adult in the rainbarrel behind my house. Owls, wolves, and bears because they pull at some part of me that longs to be free and wild.
Happy B-Day Vanessa!
Tomorrow is MY birthday! But I am celebrating today AND tomorrow as well.
My favourite animals are piglets. My parents used to call me that when I was a child, because my face was round, and always pink! Haha. In fact, I started to like the nickname so much that my favourite Winnie The Pooh character became Piglet!
xoxo

humming theme from twilight zone…lol
Hello Vanessa. It’s VERY hard to choose. My favorite animal besides my doggie Lucy, would have to be a sloth. They are so sweet looking, and seem so vulnerable, I just want to protect them and hope some day I can hug one in person.
But there are hedgehogs and donkeys and koalas, etc. etc. etc. etc.!
Oops, I see you had a birthday! Happy Happy Belated Birthday! Hope it was grand.
You so deserve it.
I love squirrels, crows and…squids. Especially giant squid. We saw a giant Humboldt squid washed up on the shore once and I just couldn’t get over what a cool creature it was!
Love your beautiful artwork 🙂
Happy belated birthday! My favorite animal is the dolphin because they are so smart and playful (and I love the sea). Then it’s the cardinal because their bright red color just makes me smile.
A little late but: Happy Birthday Vanessa 🙂
It`s hard to pick just one favourite animal, because I love so many of them, but if I can name three it must be fox, squirrel and wolf. I even have a wolf tattoo, and I`m planning to have a fox one next. When it comes to birds I love willow tits, magpies and crows (among many many others).
Oh, and I adore dragonflies and bumble bees 🙂
Happy Day of Birthing, Sweet V.
I agree with Kim….sloths are pretty dang endearing.
But….I’m a fan of owls. And squirrels. Pronounced SQUEER-uhls.
And kittens…who doesn’t love kittens?
And otters.
And goats. Especially baby goats.
Oh, who am I kidding? Other than snakes, I’d probably stick any animal in my coat and bring it home and name it. I want them ALL.
Thanks for asking. You ask the best questions.
The Aye Aye. I need one. And I need a new creature of yours for Christmas. Ever so sorry I missed your BD. Happiest of wishes to you. I know my mister sends wishes from heaven. All is well.

Lady V, it’s your birthday week. Well, happy birthday my friend. Hey, this is a offer for you good till next year. If you ever want a free reading, let me know. I have a variety of beautiful decks to a reading for you.
My favorite animal besides Dogs and cats. A close tie between dolphins and unicorns. I’m really feeling Unicorns a lot lately.
I’ve been watching Meet the Sloths on Animal Planet. I hadn’t realised what adorable creatures they are. I alternate between giggling at their antics, dying over their cuteness and weeping over the sad bits.
I think sloths are quickly becoming one of my favourite animals
Just for you to know, my favorite animal is the Okapi. They live in Africa and they are just super pretty
