I am so so so excited about this year's Mad Tea Party.
I have thoughts swirling about like mad.
I am having such a busy week…
So, it's extra fun to think that the next thing on the list is making this announcement.
It really gives me something to look forward to.
Can you believe it will be our 7th one?
I am not sure where all the years have gone off to.
Or even…
How this all happened.
This blogosphere.
And years and years of your kindredness.
It's been a blast hasn't it?
I always feel like the Mad Tea Party turns up when we all seemingly need a little spark.
In fact, it's the main reason I ever started having these.
Summer seemed internet boring.
And a tea festivity so hit the spot.
Thanks for joining in with me over the years, and for new friends who join in as well.
Almost time to sound the trumpet!
And throw together an extra ruffled frock.
But first, the white rabbit and I are just wrapping up all sorts of home projects.
Along with guests and lovely visits a plenty all this week.
Busy times indeed.
I need to tidy my hovel.
I am not sure why I still behave as though I am 9.
I don't know when I will ever be able to take out 1 scarf at a time.
Or 1 pair of shoes at a time.
I seem to have 3 jewelry boxes pouring out all over the place at all times.
Shoes hanging from the fan.
Studio paint every little where.
And just all around, well, madness…
In my world all the time 😉
I guess some things never change.
Worst part is, I don't like anyone to help me.
I need to tidy it up all on my own.
Which takes me forever lately.
I can't seem to wrangle myself in.
The older I get, the more rotten I get.
Pretty soon you will be calling be Edie.
Loooove, V
I'll be back very soon.
Playing hostess for a couple more days, fun in the desert sun!

Enjoy Your company!!!!!!
So looking forward to your party, gosh is it really the 7th, shows time flies when we are having fun.
Im excited also…Perfect weather for taking just the right photos… This year I will be there. Thank you…
Can’t wait, Vanessa! My daughter has already asked me if you named the date and I told her “soon”! : ) Love your vintage sewing machine. Your white rabbit looks adorable. I am guessing he is one of your creations. Enjoy your guests and know we all await this exciting announcement!
I can’t wait to see what you come up with! It’s always a lot of fun!
I heard this morning that Arizona is on fire now! That is so horrible!
Let us know if we need to come rescue you!!! : )
Could you imagine trying to save all of your treasures! That’s why fires & tornadoes scare me to pieces!
Anyway…
Happy 7th tea party anniversary!!!
Dear Vanessa,
I like what you said about being 9 and never being able to take out one thing at a time. My youngest daughter is 10 and that so perfectly describes her. She is quite artistic too, always creating, and I recognize her “messiness” must be part of her artistic sensibility. So I try not to be too hard on her. Hopefully she’ll grow up and keep her sparkle and whimsy and desire to create, just like you. The world will be a better place for it. Thank you for bringing joy to our days.
Sincerely,
Dana
Enjoy your visits with fun people and your projects, Dear Vanessa!! I’m wishing you lots of dreams to inspire you in your Mad Tea Party madness and my blog readers and I eagerly look forward to the announcement!!!
With hugs,
Betty
Hello Vanessa! I know you’ve moved past the rock post but you did inspire this group of photos to go on my blog.

Have a lovely day!
Deborah
It is???! Oh my, there are no fires around here, knock on wood.
Thank goodness! Tornados are soooo scary!
Deborah,
I just looked at your post. What an awesome looking place! Is that a permanent display? Where is that located?
I so enjoy your Mad Tea Parties!! It’s hard to believe its almost that time of year again, wow. This year has been a bit of a whirl wind. I can totally relate regarding cleaning, especially the studios. At some point Queenie really needs to dig out -lol-
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
Dear V,
Stay just the way you are, please! Rotten as you call it or not…. Your kindred ways comfort and delight my spirit constantly. Sending love and light!
<3 Heidi
It is a permanent display! It’s in Pittsburgh, PA in between the two main buildings of the Carnegie Art Museum and Natural History Museum. They win all sorts of awards for their work. I just loved it.
Yay! <3 I need cheering up!
Deborah, Thanks for the info!
I’m with you — my own tidying, thank you very much. That’s on the agenda this weekend — along with more than a few other things. And isn’t it lovely to have an agenda where it’s all fun?
Oh which Edie will you be though?! I have to say Little Edie, you’re not a grouch like Big Edie, more of a delightful and creative spirit. I can’t believe this will only be my 2nd Mad Tea Party!? I’m just a fall/winter girl I guess? I’m enjoying the summer much more this year hopefully it will show with my tea party!
Oh – can I come to the Tea Party too? I’ll play the bard, and spin magical tales 🙂
But of course!!! 😉

In a message dated 5/22/2014 9:26:07 A.M. US Mountain Standard Time,
Laura, I found out its Northern Arizona on fire, how terrible!!! We
had a horrible horrible fire right on our mountain a few years ago.It was
called the Aspen fire, which did serious damage at the top of the mountain
including damage to Summerhaven (detail in a link at the end of this), very bad
and scary. I had to crawl out of my house the smoke was so thick (thank
goodness the actual flames never got to my house), and then drive to my
otherhouse in town so I could even breathe. As I drove away at 3
a.m. the mountainscape was so on fire, it was beautiful and tragic all at
once. Flames and firework bursts into the air of giant old pine trees,
since its a forest mountain I leave below, in the desert. Cars were lined
up on the highway just watching it all.
Then came the monsoonrains a couple months later, and all that ash
just poured off the mountain, flooding all the properties at the bottom of the
mountain.
Turning it all into condemned land that the county eventually bought.
It was a tough story.
I hate fire and tornado etc……
Is the cold all gone where you are?

Wow, that’s very scary! I guess we all have something.I always think about the trees, plants, & animals that are caught in all that. What amazes me is that we can have flooding going on here & at the same time a drought out there. Why can’t somebody figure out a way to get our excess water over there! They have pipelines for oil, why not water!
It was unseasonably cool here for a long time & very rainy & stormy! It now has gotten to 90 & very humid!
I think it’s supposed to cool off again. We’re expecting a very nice holiday weekend though! : )
Next week they say 70% chance of storms Tue.-Sat.! I sure hope that changes.
A lot of areas right around us got very bad storms the other night. They had golf ball size hail, high winds, etc.!
We had a little sprinkle & a couple flashes & booms. We got lucky. The threat of tornadoes is too scary.
There have been a few that got too close for comfort. Like last November.
We just want more sun here. Being stormy & cloudy all the time is almost as depressing as it was in the winter. You still can’t go outside. Same with the high humidity!
I know…complain, complain, complain! Too cold, too hot, too humid, too rainy! I’m still looking for that Utopia! :0)
Hi, sweet one! I bet you are the bestest hostess everssss! Plus anyone visiting will always have something beautiful to look at with your home and yard extraordinaire. Oh, and your cooking would draw anyone in!
I hope your Memorial Day weekend is a very nice one. I am looking forward to visiting the Mad Tea Party!
Happy guest time!
Now when is that pesky rabbit going to appear for the party?
My thinking cap is on for sure.
