Well, it’s here!
I can’t really believe it.
As it still feels like summer.
And it was only July yesterday.
So now I scramble to soak it all up.
It’s soooo good!
I just started putting up a little Halloween goodness.
I got this banner from Kathy Jacobson, I love it!
Isn’t it fun?
Just what I needed.
That and some autumn spice.
I baked up two pumpkin breads last evening using this recipe, to celebrate.
I am not sure where my cream cheese mixture went???
It disappeared into the bread, and there was a ton of it.
I am sending one off to Mister’s rehearsal gig tonight.
And made another for him.
He loved it, but says he likes my recipe here better.
Brownie points?
How the man is so svelte I do not know with all the treats.
This was a good and nice trial.
My recipe has a more mild spice, so I think that’s why he likes it better?
But this was really good and the crunchy topping was lovely.
Soooo…
The Halloween mayhem is just trickling in…
Whilst napping seems the “in” thing around here.
The big white birdcage is being devoured by pumpkin leaves, hooray!
As orangey roses turn up for the event.
Flower power is in full garden effect.
And new pumpkins turn up in droves.
Hope a cold spell doesn’t come in and do them in.
They are even trying to escape through the chicken wire it seems 🙂
Some are ready for picking.
Others are a surprise we had missed.
Giant ones get daily peeks.
Little butterflies decide to sleep as I find them in my path.
And orange orbs start to get tucked in everywhere.
It’s time, it’s time!
Can’t wait to see what the season brings!
Welcome October!!!
Are you all excited for October?
What is your favorite time of year?
I suppose I like them all for different reasons.
But the heat relief that starts to trickle in with October sure is magical.
Not to mention the mayhem and frolic 😉
Yipeeee yay!
Time for tricks and treats galore!
Love, V
ps: My online shop is bursting with Halloween goodies and I am shipping daily for the season!
Take a peek 🖤
Potion labels, Halloween cards galore and more!

I haven’t baked anything pumpkin yet, but you made me really long for it now!
how are your pumpkins coming along???
My, that cream cheese pumpkin bread looks really good. I’m baking up some sherried yams myself – had a little extra time today and thought I’d try a new recipe, we’ll see how it goes.
It’s raining out here in Western Mass. right now, so your flowers and pumpkins are a cheery, welcome sight.
Happy October 1st to us all!
sherried yams??! OH MY! How decadent! Happy happy joy joy. send down the rain please and thank you 😉
Mr. Lovee lives in a bakery I tell you! Is that an Anthropologie butterfly plate? Sept & Oct are my absolute favorite months…..
He is lucky, that crazy mad man 😉 Oh, the butterfly plate is Jon
Derian from about 7-8 years ago.? He makes such awesome
things!
Mmmmm. I like a lot of spice and zest so that recipe might suit me. I think we’ve all been bitten by the fall season bug. Last night I made pumpkin spice cookies with a cream cheese icing and then sprinkled extra flavoring with cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa nibs and coffee bits. I have all of these spices in a grinder and it makes an extra fine powder to finely accent the cookie. Those two dozen cookies were gone within ten minutes of being at my work place. Hahaha! Success! Next week we have a bake sale for charity fund raising and I have some crazy plans.
That pumpkin bread looks delicious, Vanessa. You have reminded me to add the ingredients to my shopping list so I can make my gluten free version. I may have to eat gluten free, but I try to make it delicious!
I had to smile when I saw your banner from Kathy Jacobson. I just ordered one from her as well. I ordered the pennant banner with the harlequin design and got mine the other day. It is keeping my Halloween boy and girl busts company on the mantel.
Thank you for the gorgeous eye candy. I like the spicy, pumpkin goodness of fall. It’s still really warm here in the south (Gulf Coast). It won’t get cooler until later in November, but it’s nice to see autumn being played out in the rest of the country.
October is a wonderful month…shades of orange, black and yellow fill the air. As long as the weather stays mild I’m ok. Your photos are fabulous. I love watching your fury ones sleep.
Thank you, have a great day.
Dear Vanessa,
I love that bee plate in the first picture and that coral rose: swoon! My favorite time of year is November. I live in New England and there is something about the light and sky in November. Also the leaves are mostly down so the woods really come into their own. Everything opens up and it gets frosty without Sept/Oct’s humidity and rain. Also I am Catholic and the end of November brings my favorite season: Advent. I like November so much I made November 3rd my honorary Un-birthday! 🙂
PS – Your (Mom’s ?) pumpkin bread recipe is my go-to recipe. I usually make muffins with it. It’s excellent.
Cheers,
D
Honestly V i do love all 4 seasons but it has been forever and a moon since i’ve lived in a place that i really had all 4 seasons… Usually its been a blip of Fall , a blip of Winter and Spring then SUUUUUMMMMMEEEERRRRR the other 9 months. And i’am ever so tired of that ratio……. I would say hands down that my favorite time of year is Fall………I’m a Fall girl. I’m a Fall girl…Wonder if thats anything like being a Bond girl?? :
I have to ask you……do you have any pumpkin vines that have variegated leaves? There is a neighbor that has planted a pumpkin vine in his front yard……It has literally taken over his little postage stamp size yard and i believe its a pumpkin vine….he has some pretty good size ones on there now …they are all still green though.. But the leaves are beautifully variegated and when i look at your pics yours don’t seem to be…?? Hugs! deb
Warm as warm here too, but cold at night. I had to close my windows
last night I was shivering, yay! Still 90F in the day though
🙂
Miss Linda your trees are unreal on your blog!! I tried to comment
but blogger hates me I think 🙂 Such incredible
colors!!
Oh I am so glad you like my pumpkin recipe, actually, I invented it myself
when I couldnt find something I loved, I am so happy you like it so
much!! YAY!! Makes me so happy 🙂
What is it with goldens and their ability to completely collapse into a haze of relaxation anywhere. Such chill and happy pups they are. I am again the most jealous girl of your pumpkins. Mine will be store bought this year, and I’d just love to roam amongst pumpkin fields or gardens of my own.
Well, some are a little variegated but not super dark and light all at
once. I wonder what he is growing? How fun!! I used to hate
the heat, but now as a grower of veggies, when i step in my veggie garden and I
smell that basil, everything pales. The heat gets so old but the benefit
is things grow, so I am now torn, hahaha! (when I was obsessed with fashion
summer really annoyed me, as I couldnt wear all manner of fab coats and scarves
and layers, haha!)
Jenn, store bought ones are fab too. I literally have to keep myself
from buying them.I am so greedy when it comes to pumpkins, tee
heeeeeeee!
ps: we have a more organic store here called Sprouts, and they get
mind blowing pumpkins. WHite, blue, pink, fairy tale, cinderlla and
more! so fun!
This is by far my favorite season of all. The magic is palpable, especially at dusk. LOVE that last photograph. Magic!
(((Hugs)))
Oh! Your blog is sooo good for the soul.
OH, thank you Manuella!!!
