Wonderful moody days filled with rain clouds make for quite magical days.
Wouldn't you say?
I love when the skies do all sorts of inspiring dramatic dances.
I just finished several days of going through drawers.
Purging.
Stacks of cards and papers and more.
Closets and shoes and dishes and donation piles, done.
Phew.
I love organized drawers.
Next to tackle my two little pantries.
But for today, it was moody mystery.
Candles and twinkle lights.
Thrillers and dusting.
Getting things fully back in order for a brand new year.
Fresh.
Decluttered.
Going through magazines by candle light.
Enjoying my space.
I do looooove dusting days.
It gives me such an opportunity to enjoy all the treasures I collect.
I also have Valentine's day on my mind.
I love February 14th.
Many years ago I decided it would be my special day to love myself.
But a little fox cuddling never hurt either.
Tea time under twinkle lights, just as evening turns to night.
Shuffling back to bed, tea in hand.
To slowly sip.
Reading, plotting, planning, doodling.
It's best when you get to meet one or two furs.
Notice one hiding there below?
Or should I say, snoring.
I tuck my cold winter feet in socks under my furs.
Yumm.
It's been great to go through drawers.
I went through decades of birthday cards and greeting cards given to me over the years.
Organized pictures and old love notes.
Threw away (recycled) vhs tapes that no one wanted, and didn't even work very well.
I kept Legend.
I threw away receipts from 8 years ago.
The things that pile up in drawers, ridiculous.
Its so nice to refind photos of old boyfriends and antique family photos.
I have boxes of shoes I should part with.
Worn out, done.
But all dear to me.
OKay, I will say good-bye to those beloved souls, soles.
Must.
I have so many fun things happening behind the scenes, so much to tell you soooo soon.
And even some new paint on the palette.
I still don't feel like I ever relaxed from the holidays madness.
But, that's okay I suppose.
How are you out there living your own fairy tale?
Real fairy tales have rotten things in them too.
Not just all perfect.
So, literally, we do live fairy tales, don't we?
🙂
Can't wait to hear how you are doing!!
Loooove, V

Your posts always make my day brighter!
It’s interesting how, after January 1st, the urge to purge (sounds like the need for speed!) anyhow, yeah…I have woken up and the urge to ‘get rid of junk’ begins. It is a very freeing feeling! The past three days, I have taken junk out to our trash barrel or to our paper recycle barrel and happily gotten rid of ‘stuff’! I also have closets FULL needing to be sorted or donated too.
Fairy tales..ahhhh…my fairy tales consist of making a 2015 journal (which I never really hardly ever do!) But this year, my mind is more focused and it’s just what I feel will keep me on task. I need something tangible to view, so I can sit down to write my thoughts, or to go back a month later and read what I wrote. It takes time, but I think it is worth it. And, I’m doing an ATC Zentangle three card trade with a friend on the other side of the country. It will be relaxing and mellowfying…there…I made up a new word.
Your photos are very magically, satisfying.
love and hugs,
Miss Teresa

new Years Greetings my Fanciful Friendling,
It is so funny that you are doing the purge. I do every year but haven’t even began this year. It seems that things accumulate in every nook and cranny and you wonder about half the things you own.
Dusting is such a joy don’t you think? Hagitha has been at it for days…now if I could only get her to start on those drawers. Ha ha ha!!
I heart you and wish you the most happiest January ever!!!

Vanessa:
I have been doing some cleaning out as well. I love to do that every year after the Christmas decorations come down. January through March are such lovely, slow months. I am putting up new fairy lights in my studio and drinking green tea. Enjoying the winter sun. Although, it is very windy here tonight.

Hello!
I’ve been doing some tidying, too, although not quite at the rate that would entitle me to call it purging (my problem: I love all my little things too much!).
Also been spending time slowing down a little bit and enjoying tea and books while the winter weather swirls around us.
It’s been quite cold and snowy up here, rather like Narnia under the White Queen, but that’s okay – as you say, it is part of the fairy tale (I really, really like that idea!), and, besides, it’s quite beautiful. I like a good bit of wintry weather at his time of year – to me, it’s what January should be.
Glad you are enjoying yourself and “Reading, plotting, planning, doodling.” (“Plotting”, in particular, sounds very promising.) : )
Hope the rest of January, and all your days, continue happy and cozy and comfy!

HI V

Speaking of adventures.. i just posted one on my blog if you want to see what i’ve been up to… 🙂 Its been cold here at night but lovely 60’s during the day… I guess thats CA for you though… Stay warm V! Hugs! deb
Your candles make everything so magical. Such beautiful pictures on this post. Good for you on all your cleaning frenzy. All our closets could use a good decluttering. Feel free to come visit our snowy cold state!
Cosy and pretty indoors is perfect for January. Those foxes are sweet. I have been doing some clearing out tonight. At school today I read a story about a little bear on a desert island. he picks up the things that float by-a stick, a bottle, and plays with them but quickly loses interest. He really wants a cup to use with his bottle. Then one day a large white wooden horse with read polka dots floats by. he pulls it from the sea and they have lots of fun together. Then a shipwreck happens. Lots of great things land on the island and it is suddenly very cluttered. Little bear is very excited at all the things and crossly tells horse to ‘get up there’ (on top of a partial shed) Then the bear finds a cup. he is so excited and starts to tell the horse. He turns around and realises that horse has gone-he fell from the shed when it broke and has floated away. The bear calls out to him but he is gone. At this point I was genuinely nearly crying! But, two pages later the sea washes away the stuff and the horse floats past. Little bear realises that his friend is more important than things. The story spurred me on to clear one box which has been hanging around and to make plans for more clearing soon! xx
Your life is always magical and inspiring, thank you for sharing it!
I finally finished the holiday gatherings last weekend and only now have the decorations partially down. I need to get that finished up so I can go on to the decluttering and organizing I’m determined to do, new projects I want to start, landscaping and garden plans I want to plan…. yeah, I always think there’s going to be a lull between the holidays and spring awakening, and there never is. I need a little cabin I can go hide in, just me and my tea, forced hibernation. I get too restless to “do something” at home. Also, I’ve been on a round of thrifting and must find a way to incorporate all my new lovely discoveries into my home and closet. And see, I’m back to the need to declutter and organize…
Ooooh Veevala!
Happy 2015! I keep seeing Tori Amos everywhere and think of you immediatemant (which isn’t how you spell ‘immediately’ in French but just pretend it’s the French FAIRY way, k?)
STILL. I am STILL trying to settle into Cool Furry Oaks and blend my stuff and his stuff and our newly acquired stuff. He had a lot of stuff before I got here; so did I. I think you were very wise to hold on to your city house and keep stuff there as long as you did!!So, maybe next year I will be at a place in stuff organizing where I have an easy peasy dusting day; a dreamy billowy loud, romantic rain soaked day, le sigh. 🙂
I do have FOUR fur babies, so there’s that. They do keep my feet warm…or my lap or sometimes my head. :)I haven’t been doing much reading or writing or blogging though – Kali runs away with my pen, Loki rests his paw on my keyboard, Dharma thinks my book is a pillow, and Sarj nudges my hand because it’s been half a minute since I last pet his head. 🙂
We DID take a full load of stuff to the dump. Because we were building on to the music room, a/k/a play room and for now also my writing room. 🙂
ANYHOO I’m slowing down enough to play/dream/write this year (my promise to myself) and of course, enjoy fairyland. 🙂 xoxoxox
Dapplings of dew drops rainbowing light.
As we look out of windows, warming sight.
Ornaments flying then finding a rest,
With a silent neighbor on the oversized chest.
Dust bunnies tckled and brushed up and down,
Sweet silence filling every rooms empty sound.
And then a trumpet sounds tu-luuuu-
With a few strumming strings -ahh, more to do!
Hubby is off to the East – NYC
For 3 weeks at least.
Christmas cactus still a blaze,
New Year discoveries going on for days.
Getting writing in lil books,
Decorating little special writing nooks.
Eating sometimes one meal a day,
Then attending a glorious feast oh yea.
Remembering dreams that whisper cheer,
And to say to you Blessings on your New Year.
xoxo GG Pinkster
I have to start cleaning, purging, sorting, rearranging, giving away. We were gone for a few days. Now that it feels wintery (we had some snow today, lots of big snow clusters that barely clung to the trees and grass and then it was gone) I am ready to start trying to bring some order to the disorder 🙂
Oh Miss V I so wish I could visit a yard sale at your house after you have done a clearing out! I best there are so many amazing treasures to be had!!
I have been getting the urge to purge now, dreading trips to the basement to put things away and thinking perhaps, just perhaps, if I got rid of this stuff, I wouldn’t feel that way! Too cold to work on the garage, but like yours, my drawers could use a bit of a makeover — and all those bits of paces. Wouldn’t kill me to clean the studio shelves a bit, either! Seeing and reading this is a wonderful motivator!
How cute are those foxes! I love that Valentine’s Day is a day you take to love yourself. Such a lovely idea. xoxo Jen
You had me at “Twinkle”. 🙂 Love the moody, dreamy lights. But . . . you actually LOVE dusting?! That’s the #1 cleaning job I dislike the most! So . . . I’d like to hire you to come do my dusting. I’ll expect you this weekend. 😉 I’ll have tea and cakes for you. Seriously . . . good for you for doing all that purging, organizing, etc. I need to do the same, in sooo many areas. And I will. Just slow-going right now. But it feels so wonderfully freeing, even though it’s hard to say goodbye to things we know we need to let go of but still love. But that just opens things up for some new treasures — which is always quite exciting. 🙂 Loved the glow of this post and its photos.
Oh, and I LOVED what you said about fairy tales. Good point, and I totally agree! 🙂
