Field Trip to a Western Village…

How about we take a field trip today?

In my dreams I live here…

In a little village just like this.

Old town 15

This little Western village is called Trail Dust Town and is located in Tucson, Arizona.

For more into, click here.

It's a place I have been going to since I was a little girl.

It's home to some really popular fun restaurants that people flock to like mad.

This morning I found myself there by accident really, as it's far from home.

In fact, I drove right past on my way to a shop.

Then I thought, oh I haven't been there in ages, so I turned around and went back.

It was morning and I was the only person there.

Old town 14

I had the most wonderfully fabulous and inspiring time.

All alone, just looking around.

It was ahhmazing.

I took some phone pics to share, so hop on in and let's go…

Old town 4

Nothing like a storybook setting for a proper dose of everything inspiration.

Fills all sorts of inspiration vaults for certain.

I'd love to live upstairs and run the magic shop.

Imagine?

Old town 11

Dreamy.

Old town 3

I had forgotten how cute and well kept this place is.

At night with all the people around it has an amusement park feel.

But alone early in the morning it felt perfectly magical really.

Old town 10

Of course I adoooored the apothecary shop.

Old town 5

I have a tiny little village in my garden and this visit has me swirling with ideas.

I just love the signs and the door.

Old town 13

All sorts of goodies in the windows too.

Old town 17

You can pan for gold…

Old town 18

Or peek in covered wagons.

Old village 1

Of course I peeked in 🙂

Old town 7

The general store is chock full of fun things to buy.

Sweets and treats a plenty.

Old town 2

I looove these mechanical horses.

When I was a kid I had to always ride them.

Remember they had them outside of supermarkets and such?

Now I never see them, do you?

Old town 6

I'd looove to own one of these cigar guys.

Old town 19

The colors and vibe are wonderful all around, wouldn't you say?

There's still much more to see than what I took snaps of.

Old town 8

The uber popular steak house is called Pinnacle Peak.

If you wear a tie they cut it off after making a loud scandal about the whole thing.

I've been there so many times over the last 30 years or more, I've lost count.

My parents used to always take us there as kidlets.

Old town 9

As a grown girl, my heart was particularly drawn to this urn.

How I would love to have that in my own garden.

Old town 16

What a lovely little visit I had.

Old town 12

Hope you enjoyed a peek in.

It's been ages since we did something like this on the blog, hasn't it?

Maybe we need lots more field trips.

Me thinks, yes, yes indeed.

So there you have it, Trail Dust town.

6541 E Tanque Verde Rd.  Tucson, AZ 8571

See you soooon!

Love, V

Sparkly heart

What fun! I miss field trips! I wish I had someone to go with me on them. I don’t do well alone in public (anxiety issues). If I did, I’d go on lots of little field trips!
    Have a wonderful week!

    ps…hugs to Matty and Miles!

Thank you so much for this field trip! I used to go there when I was a little girl, too. I wasn’t sure if it even existed any more. I’m so happy to see that it does. Next time I’m in Tucson, I’m there! 🙂

  5. Victoria says:

Thanks for the field trip, I had a great time! I remember those mechanical horses, i used to love to ride on them when I was little…and carousels, too. The village is so cute, I’m going to go back and take another field trip! 😉

  6. Oh! Gosh! This Trail Dust Town reminds me of the way Knott’s Berry Farm used to look in the late 1960’s. One of my friend’s families lived a huge strawberry field away from Knott’s, so she and I would either walk the half a mile there, and it was free at the time to walk around.
We saw the likes of Andy Divine, a cowboy actor who would sit on a big rocking chair outside the dance hall where you could see a show of Can-Can girls inside.
We also saw Steve Martin play his banjo in the Bird Cage Theater, I mean, it WAS California, and it was just a hop, skip, and a jump, to Hollywood, so it wasn’t far for these theatrical men to show up and join in on the fun. I remember Steve Martin singling out my friend and I, as we sat there before the regular show. He looked at us from where he was on stage and said ‘Girls? Do you wear Peter Pan Make-up?’ We shook our heads ‘No’, and he said ‘NO?’ Then he said ‘Well you should wear it as your Pan is Petered Out!’ And of course it was funny as his mother was Mary Martin, the ‘then’ Peter Pan of the Broadway Show. Then, you could buy an all day swirled sucker, or rock candy. There was a general store where you could buy pioneer style fabric, which I did buy fabric and made a couple of late 1967 style Rock-a-billy dresses. Those were the days. And then we would eat at Knott’s Steak House. It was where the teenagers with their classic cars would cruise around on Friday and Saturday nights. It was the hub or Orange County, California. Thanks for the memories!

  7. There is a place here outside of Denver in the foothills that is very much like this place, called Heritage Square. Unfortunately is will be closing the end of Summer this year. My Nephew just got married there. Everyone dressed up in Victorian western clothing. It was a lot of fun. Hate to see places like this closing. Thank you for sharing your field trip with us.
    Take Care,

  8. Shell says:

Trail dust town looks absolutely cool. It must have been a treat as a kid to go there.

  9. What a fun field trip The little “town” is so quaint. Any kid young or old would love it. Are the cute shops “real” or make believe?
I want to link over and read more about it.
    Thanks for sharing, Vanessa!

  10. I would love it there too! I miss a good TV western show, also reminds me of Greenfield Village here in Michigan. Only with an eastern theme. How fun for you to have this so close by!

  11. Renee says:

I loved our little field trip. I would love to visit there. We all need to take more field trips.

  12. Roselie says:

My oh my what a dreamy place! I would loove to visit it one day 🙂

  13. Laura says:

Simply magical. If I make it to AZ I will make this a prioity- and spend all day!
Last weekend I returned to m childhood summer trip destination. I had not been for a few years. It was amazing to see the changes and still areas looked like they have not changed in 40 years. Bitter sweet. I prefer my memories but it is nice to see the place staying alive.
I am sure more memories are being made there.

  14. Ms. Linda says:

Oh Miss Vanessa, What a lovely place to be. Thank you for the field trip.

  15. Misha/Dawaioser says:

That’s so cool and what a dream to have it alone all to yourself…to explore and dream. I love the antique mechanical horses, too. I used to ride them outside my Grandma’s grocery store. SO funny to think back on that time.
Side note, did you ever see the haunted Western saloon town and they had their guests pan for gold and more. They make a haunted house every year with a different theme each time and all of the proceeds go to charity.
