Flowers flowers, all the days.
I'm not sure how I prefer them…
Fresh or dried?
I love them both.
They are so beautiful at every stage.
Turning into paper specimens as they age.
When they begin to droop, I await the drying magic.
Time turning them into treasures to hold for endless days.
Beautiful beautiful gifts of nature.
I don't even mind satin ones in a pinch.
And then there is the lass, who I could not bear to leave behind.
She loves me, she loves me not…
Leaning in an old antique store.
I drove an hour away.
I added one or two tea cups to the cabinet as I thought of her.
Like lovely dried flowers.
Not fresh and new.
But wonderfully perfect in their imperfection.
And so I got into my car moments after arriving.
Heading back one hour from where I had been an hour before.
What a mad thing I'd say.
Arriving at the antique shop with only 5 minutes store closing time to spare.
I knew in a day or two, for certain she would not be there.
Who she is, what is her story?
I'll never know.
Why she intrigued and bewitched me, I'm unsure.
The tag said 1800's painting.
That's all I know.
I wonder what her name is.
Do you know?
She sits by a big wooden bowl of drying flowers.
Dried flowers as art is what we should say.
Shouldn't we?
All these silly little thoughts rambling in a flutter.
I am mad tea plotting and planning.
Thank you to those who have jumped in.
I'll keep adding folks every few days.
Fun fun!!
Happy Weekend!
See you soon.
Love, V
ps: I am currently watching Penny Dreadful, oh my. Have you seen it?
Perfect fall weather kind of series, scary and very very dark but intriguing all at once.
I am quite taken by the brilliant acting. The characters are taking it so seriously, which makes it all more enticing and realistic, which isn't so easy to do with scary tales as such.
I know I'm late to the party with this one, but I'm not a series kind of person, so I'm quite surprised I've stuck this one out several episodes.

Dearest Dear Vanessa, I love your beautiful teacup collection so much! Someday, I will have to do a blog post about my own nothing-matches-but everything-looks-lovely-together-collection as well! I also love your painting and especially the mystery about her! You can write stories about her!!! And speaking of stories, I am also a “Dreadful”!!!! I love the series so much and own the first two seasons on DVD (and will be buying the 3rd when released). I won’t say too much because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but the characters, sets and costumes are just wonderful, aren’t they?? I love most of the characters, but especially Victor Frankenstein and my absolute favorite, Ferdinand Lyle! I just adored him, and his office at the British Museum from the first season was one of my favorite scenes! I hadn’t watched a series in a long time either, but after seeing the first episode, I stayed up most of one very foggy night in a hotel room in Belfast, ME and binge watched almost all of the first season! I was hooked!!!! Enjoy your time in Victorian London with Vanessa, Ethan, Sembene, Sir Malcolm, Dorian and please say “Hello” to my darling Victor and Mr. Lyle!! 🖤ï¸🖤ï¸🖤ï¸ðŸ’€ðŸ‘»ðŸ™€ðŸ™€ðŸ™€ðŸ˜¿
DeLovely. All of it.
**blows kisses**

Dear Double V,I’m surprised you don’t recognize her…Her name was Eleanora. She was the older spinster daughter of a famous attorney in New Orleans. She lived in the shadow,of her younger, more beautiful, sister. No one had ever courted Eleanora. So,when her selfish sister learned that she “pined” for Sebastion, her father’s law clerk, she set her cap for Sebastion. He,being young, and easily led,was surprised to find himself engaged to Eleanora’s sister,Evangeline. But,that spurred Eleanora to find her inner self, and she fought for Sebastion’s love.Mere days later,Sebastion realized the error of his ways, broke the engagement, and professed his love for Eleanora. That,my dear, is why she has that lil satisfied smile on her face!
Dried flowers and romantic vintage portraits, Oh! My! Swoon…
I have seen the DVD set of Penny Dreadful on the shelf at Target…Hmmm…I must get it!
The last Divergent DVD comes out July 12th, Allegiant. I have read the series a few times. Mind adventure candy with dark, foreboding, overtones. The real world is coming close to that scenario. It actually freaks me out a bit.
So, we have our Mad Tea Party to escape reality and have fun, and madness, and a crazy time!
I haven’t bought any new (vintage) tea cups and saucers for ages! Maybe I will spoil myself with a few for the tea party.

Miss Teresa and the Cheshire Cat
Oooh, all those gorgeous teacups and flowers! So perfectly beautiful! And I love that girl you brought home. She is quite lovely and I can see why you wouldn’t want to leave her behind. I’ve been wanting to watch Penny Dreadful for a while but I want to start from the beginning and I haven’t been able to locate them anywhere. I’m currently getting caught up with Game of Thrones (just started season 4 yesterday). I’ve to start plotting my mad tea party ways myself.
love and blessings

ps…hugs & kisses to Matty & Miles!
Eva Green is a goddess. Happy for all your flower pictures as always.
Sometime we just have to do what we have to do and run off to the antique shop.
Please add me to the Tea Party: http://www.heartsdelights.blogspot.com
Thanks, Marilyn
Your newest painting will look amazing and she’s quite captivating. I’m sure the artist fancied her as well?
Penny Dreadful: SO GOOD and creepy as you ease into S2. I’m waiting for the third season to be added to Netflix, so I can get caught up. Between that show, “Daredevil” and “Game of Thrones”, I’m set, but terribly far behind since I just ended my torrid romance with cable TV. I just couldn’t afford her anymore.
Lovely combination with the dried flowers and old portraits. I’m particularly intrigued because I’m taking a portraiture class this summer!
The stacked teacups look like they are ready for the Mad Tea Party!

All Your additions to Your home are enchanting.I continue to love Your style.Enjoyed-Thank You sweet girl-Denise
I can see the woman in the painting sitting silently beside you during your drive, tsking you without sound for leaving her behind. Knowing full well you would return. Your spirits have communicated and soon enough her secrets will be known, only to you.
I am always “late” to the party so must catch up on Penny Dreadful and Peaky Blinders.
I will winter binge watch. During live flower season (and into punmpkin season as well) while the world around me is awake I must enjoy their gifts.
