Spring Magic in the Air…

I can't believe it.

It's so early but it's happening.

Nature sprinkling its magic upon us where the desert meets the forest.

Spring magic 12

Is it happening there too, where you are?

The hatter gave me a fairy piano, sweetest little thing.

Spring magic 1

And I'm collecting first roses.

I just can't believe it.

I don't know why spring always amazes me so, but it does.

I run outside every morning to see what new leaves are springing forth.

Spring magic 7

I'm having so much fun in my studio and trying to enjoy open windows and doors as much as I can before the real heat finds us.  Although we are having a heat wave now, which is a bit nutty so soon.

Spring magic 17

The fruit trees are just sublime as they bloom.

Peach tree pink makes me so happy.

As wisteria blooms start to form.

Spring magic 5

It's all happening right outside the window.

Spring magic 8

I noticed yesterday that the roses that are gobbling up entire buildings in my garden are also intertwining with the wisteria. This makes my fairy tale loving heart crazy overjoyed.

Spring magic 6

Early spring.

What a gift.

The cool evenings, the delicious light.

Sigh.

Spring magic 15

The bees are in love with the plum trees right now.

Spring magic 11

They can't get enough.

Go bees go!

Spring magic 13

My babies follow me around as I do the morning and evening rounds.

Spring magic 14

They look around at butterflies and birds, just watching nature flutter about.

Spring magic 21

Our little guardian keeps watch intensely.

Making sure that no one enters his dominion.

Spring magic 16

Sometimes he won't even leave his post and join Miles and I roaming the garden.

He just sits on the top front porch stairs, looking.

Listening.

Ready to pounce.

Spring magic 18

But Miles and I are too bewitched by pink fruit blossoms and winding wisteria to worry.

We leave that up to our Matty protector.

Spring magic 4

Oh and did I mention the tiny clusters of roses?

Oh my!

Spring magic 3

I love love love these beautiful days.

Spring magic 20

But I said that already didn't it?

🙂

As the day winds down I follow the garden path.

Sniffing apricot blossoms.

Their always familiar sugar and milk scent activates my memory bank.

Spring magic 19

Golden hour sweeps in…

Spring magic 2

And as everything glows I cozy back up in my studio.

Spring magic 9

Enjoying it all, just like the bunnies and critters in my new favorite chocolate tin are.

Spring magic 10

I've been going to and fro, doing so many things lately.

I've been having fun decorating in the city a bit and working on some art here in the country.

I'm thinking about giving the country pad a facelift too.

I always want to keep this homebase no matter what, and enjoy it, so it's important to give it some love.

The garden is calling my name again, tending garden is taking center stage.

Our winters are so short, but I did get a nice little break from heat and early morning.

Time to plunge in again.

The quail are having babies and the bees are buzzing like mad.

Nature knows what to do and when, amazing.

I so hope you are having lovely days out there.

I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings in the garden.

The gophers did a number on some rose bushes so I'm hoping and praying they make it.

I moved them to pots and baby them like mad.

I check them several times a day to see if there is any sign of life.

I do see little red nubs forming, I may faint from joy if all works out.

I've invested in ever so many giant pots and some of the other rose bushes I saved are doing incredibly.

SO exciting!!

Spring, what a time.

We are so lucky to have these things called seasons.

Aren't we?

Fill me in on your first days of March, oh and, welcome March!

See ya soon,

Love V

See you soon a fanciful twist 300px

Things are blooming in NW Arkansas… The pear trees have bloomed and the daffodils have been blooming for weeks… now i see some green leaves on trees leafing out… AND we are going down to 25 degrees F tonight! I hope they can all tough it out… some snow and ice expected.. Some trees and bushes are wiser.. they know better… My dogwood shows no sign of life nor the crepe myrtle… Most of the oaks still sit quietly in deep slumber… waiting…..The does are showing signs of being pregnant…enjoying the new shoots of grass coming up….All in all its a tug of war around here.. spring..not spring…spring… I think spring is winning.. lol Good to hear from you V Hugs! deb

We’ve been having such warm weather these past four weeks. High high 60’s and 70’s. even an 80 in there. It’s bizarre. The trees are all blooming and leaves sprouting and I’ve got tons of new growth on my rose bush. This a cold front came in last night and we are supposed to have snow tonight and tomorrow morning. Oh boy!
Enjoy your warm weather and all your beauty in the garden! I so enjoy seeing your garden photos and living a bit vicariously.
    love & blessings

We had spring in Illinois in February but now in March, winter is back! We’re supposed to get around 3 inches of snow on Monday. It has been up & down. It looks so lovely down by you! Our spring flowers are pushing up some green leaves. They will be surprised on Monday if we get the snow! It went from upper 60s & lower 70s to 30 today! It has been sunny though. That helps make it better. Have a great weekend! :0)

    Good Morning
Oh your flowers are so heavenly to look at. I sure hope your rose survives* We don’t have any growth on anything here in CT. We just had 5 inches of snow and a blizzard is expected tomorrow night with over a foot of snow. I so enjoy seeing your beautiful flowers though. I know you are soaking in every second of your time in the garden
    have a fabulous weekend Vanessa

Would you write a little bit, sometime, about how you keep such a beautiful flower garden in such a dry climate? I believe my health would benefit from dry air, but I am scared I wouldn’t be able to have my green things around me. You give me hope, as you have one of the most magical gardens anywhere, dry or not! But when I do a google image search for gardening in the area, all I see is bare ground and cactus. Why is it, I wonder, that more people do not do what you do there?

  8. Renee says:

Beautiful. Winter made another appearance here. It has been cold. We even had a bit of snow the other day. Spring will return. maybe next week.

  9. Storm Stella is bringing unexpected cold weather to so many and even in my state of Florida. We’ve been dipping into the lower 60’s temp-wise. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but to us it’s strange and welcome. There’s snow and weird snow all over the US, so what we are experiencing right now is a relief.

  10. LOVE seeing your fur babies and garden. The pink and white striped ribbon in the firs pic is so pretty! It’s been cold here this week, so I’ve been unable to garden. We’re needing to replace several shrubs due to last summer and autumn’s drought. Lots of work to do!
    Lovely post, Vanessa!

Awwww. Vamessa I just love your garden so very much. My heart stopped in January and when it started back up it was only 20 beats so i passed out and fractured my skull in two places. I spent about 30 days in the hospital with two skull fractures and a slight TIA, so they thought right after I had done some rehab too. I have had a round with Afib with my heart and so now they decided I have sinus problems with my heart so in went a pacemaker too. And, wouldn’t you know that gave me problems too. Long road to recovery from that too. We are debating on taking it out and doing a different kind. Ugh Even tho my recovery is long I did have my yellow roses bloom this year in my pot. We moved from San Antonio to Wylie, Texas around the Dallas area, so i am hoping my hubby can plant them for me as I can not. So, this year I will have to enjoy your garden as my health will not let me garden much. I am still dizzy from my head and still having headaches which they say can last for awhile. I so enjoy seeing all the colors that you use. I so want to have all the art that I got from you and have it framed and hung in my new house too. So much I want to do, but I need to recover first. My Dad died last September and I had to place my 89 year old Mom in a nursing facility too. She is in heart failure and kidney failure and she fell and broke two ribs we think from a slight stroke. She was living in the country and just couldn’t mange on her own any longer and is now bedridden. So, life changes as we grow older. My husband and I want to take a vacation when I can travel again, maybe we shall come your way and visit. Enjoy your garden and your life because you never know from day to day how things can happen and change things. Smiles and soft hugs to you, your friend Freda

Oh my, Butterfly! Such wonderful photos and your enthusiasm is so infectious! Every morning before I go out in the garden, the first thing I think of is, “What has gotten eaten up over night!” Hahaha! 😛 But, then I also get excited to see which plants are about to burst open. Spring days. Awe, yes! We had SO much rain this winter. And, as you know, I am the queen of complain when it comes to lack of rain. I ALWAYS worry about it. Even though we are much better now. Matty, I love him, but I’m absolutely certain he wouldn’t feel the same. And Miles, he makes my heart flutter. He has such a fun personality! Just like his mama! 🙂 🙂 🙂 xoxoxox Jen

  13. Your Springtime Imagery is sublime and you capture it thru the lens so Beautifully! Yes, we are enjoying an early Springtime with profuse blooms from all the unseasonable rains we have had here in the lower Desert… it is magnificent! Dawn… The Bohemian

Your gardens are so beautiful. It gives me a lot of hope here in Michigan, Things are just starting to bud. The weather is up and down, still trying to make that happy medium.
65 one day and 25 the next. I know it will settle down soon. Your gardens give me hope.

  15. Rhondaroo says:

OK what is going on with that tin? I’m super intrigued!! Your flowers are stupendous and the light is truly magical and your fur babies and bees are scrumpdillyicious but Veevala dahling — did the guy bunny on that tin come home from the war or he is the postman? Is that Heidi bunny girl? And, and GYPSY DUCKS!! Wowza!! The colors are so vivid and i love the animals all hanging out together (except the rabbit jumping over the fence who seems not sure about the whole scene going down) — with or without chocolate that tin is AWESOME. 🙂
