A Little Bit of Really Fun News

I know I just posted that last post.  However, I had to run over and tell you all something that I find quite fascinating! There was this painting I created last year, that recently, went to live in the most amazing place

Wstrangebeautifulladyregular100fixe

(The writing you see there at the bottom of the painting is this – "The story would always be the same. The seasons would change, the years would go by. But, the Strange Beautiful Lady would walk up the hill. In her long ball gown and sparkling jeweled crown. As if everything were candy and scones. She with her children in hand, would go outside to frolick and play. People from near and people from far, would listen and know that bewildering tune she sang. As if letting out it from deep in her heart, her little sonic art. 'Ah yes, the children will play, they will dance and they'll sway, on a perfectly lovely and gloomy day, they say, they say'…" – Vanessa Valencia)

After the painting had gone to live in its wonderful new home, an unusual thing happened.

I have a little brother, who makes movies, while going to movie making University.  When he got sight of this painting, he had a little plan.  You see, he and I both are secret composers of music.  Him on any instrument. I, on the piano.  You have seen my girl, who assists me in such endeavors, many times. Here she is again La Pianola…(you know, the French white spinet I took paint to)

Anyhow… My little brother Adam did quite the magical thing.  A couple of weeks ago, I had my mother calling, saying, "Vanessa, Vanessa, can you hear this??" as she obviously held the phone up to some sounds… And I exclaimed, "Oooo, what is it, are you watching a movie??" And she said, "No, Adam composed a little song for your Strange Lady painting." And I said, "What?? Wonderful!!!"

My brother composes all sorts of music. Many of the songs haunting and heart string tugging.  So, I am here to share with you the little tune to Strange Beautiful Lady II.  I am dedicating it to the most wonderful owner it ever could have dreamed of living with…

Excuse the poor photo, it really is the song we were after sharing and had some trouble getting it into YouTube.  If you have time, I hope you can listen to the whole thing.  It is haunting and beautiful. Thank you Adam!!!

I have to say. This little tune has me seeing the strange beautiful lady, walking up the hill….Did you know, that on the other side of the hills there lies a… Well, that is yet to come in the next in line of this ongoing series…

I am off for now, as I am busy creating in the studio…I finished her this afternoon, she is in my shop.

Reverie…

I must say I imagined this animated and as the song came to a close I could see the little girl let go of the red kite….floating off as did the music!

    Yeah!

  25. lou says:

    ooo God!
you see, this is the very thing i can dig.
first i get these heart-churn strings that remind me of the horizon (i imagined her walking towards it) and the skippity little accompaniment was like the hesitation of the figures approaching whatever it is (adventure-wise) they might be approaching.
and here i like the sense that it kept stalling then leaping forward again. like little wayward animals.
and then it all comes together in a whirlygig of goodliness, a goreous resolution.
but you must forgive me, i get carried away. i float in this kind of madness all the time;)
well, after viewing your last post also….what a perfect little dynamo you are. busy to the last, you is. and collage is the most awesome way to work, i miss it sometimes, and then i promise myself i will ditch the pc for a week and get messy, but it never happens.
cartwheels over a swollen heart is what stops me, as you so perfectly supposed!

  26. Gina says:

It was the most enchanting tune. I could just picture it. I just finished reading a book..Wildwood Dancing, I think it’s actually a young adult book but I still enjoyed it. It’s about girls that go through a magical door into a fairy land and once a month they dance in this magical land and learn some life lesson and dreams. I bet this tune would be playing in that other fantasy world.

  27. denise says:

That was really really pretty. It did go so well with the painting!!

  28. tiffany says:

Lady dancing on music pages is the perfect compliment to brother composing music for fab painting! Congratulations!!! I’m so happy for you. What a nice brother. 🙂

  38. I just wanted to stop by and say – i don’t know how I’ve never seen you on Etsy until now, but I found you on chez art and ghosts. That music is swee yet sort of haunting – my favourite combination. Have you ever heard of Patrick Watson? Different, but there’s that hint of sad circus music. I also love the 3-d effect of the paper skirts…nice to see your work!

  45. Here I am!!! What did YOU want to tell me sweet dear girly???
Here is my words to this sweet haunting melody!
    Looking
    around
    tip-toeing
    feeling
    like
    an angel
    twirling
    I
    can
    almost remember
    a
    flight
    a flight
    so high
    so sweet
    O! my sweet stars
    cotton candy clouds
    an
    angel
    flies near by
    we almost
    touch
    but the wind
    carries me back home
    and
    I’m left
    with a distant memory
    of flying
    being a song
    a
    song
    sung by YOU
    in
    a dream
    Do you remember?
    Do you remember!!?
    twinkle
    twinkle
    tinkle
    tinkle
    la,la,la,la
    tinkle
    twinkle
    la,la,la,la
    how we danced
    in a dream
    tip-toeing, twirling
    I reach
    for your hand
    and
    I wake up!
    and I sing
    this tune all
    day long
    la,la,la,la
    la,la,la,la
    Ohhhhhhh
    sweetheart
    I’m going to sing
    all day long
    la,la,la,la,la
    wish you were here
    singing
    la,la,la,la,la too
    oh sweetheart
    send me a prayer
    and I’ll send you
    love, love, love
    love is in the air
    la,la,la,la
    love is in the air
    Do you feel it
    Do you feel it
    la, la,la,la
    la,la,la,la
    twirl
    my darling
    twirl
    and feel
    feel the love
    I’m sending to
    you
    la,la,la,la
    Cro

  46. Wow! That’s fantastic. Gooosebumps. Reminds me of something Burton-esque…
