I was sitting in my private boudoir in the country, err, I mean, a faraway bed and breakfast in some lovely other world…
It couldn't be my world, why, there was rain in this world. Water. Puddles, ponds, birds 'a bathing…
Droplets sounded like a dream. The clouds did not cease for two days and drizzles of water fell out of the sky in a place where water falling out of the sky really did seem other worldly. 107' F dropped to a high of 60'F.
Baby lemons were born…
Girls in ruffles hid under covered porches…
But soon abandoned the covered roofs to dance in the water droplets, as big full drops plunked on noses and toes… It was a little vacation before the party…
A place where you could skip through oleander coves…
Where beautiful reptiles frolic…
Vintagey flowers grow…
Buddha looks on in delight…
While abandonded quail eggs are collected and protected…
And the tune of Gypsies doing their laundry under a big mesquite tree rings through the moist air…
A peek across the tiny dead end road, to the garden of the front door neighboor, revealed white flowers blooming madly, as the clouds continued to gather… Did he know, how much she loved his flowers? How they made her smile every day as she stood on her porch?
As the sun began to set, there were sounds of little wheels, trailing through the dirt…
The looming night sky brought with it unexpected visitors through the arbor…
OH my! It was the gypsy film maker boys with their vino, tiny pianos and french horns. One might dream they were being serenaded…
They plunked down here and there, even in the tub!!
Sway with the gypsies, sing with the gypsies, for tomorrow they voyage in a true caravan to a place where they continue to make their film making dreams come true. Ahhh, adventures abound.
But for now – we sing and play into the night…
In the morning, the gypsies were gone. The traveling gypsy boys.
And the vacation twist had come to an end, without ever having to leave the country house.
Now, it was time to plan a party…
My mind's a flutttttter!! Party party party in my mind. And, there really is rain. Worth every moment of anticipation as it decided to stay, a rare occurence in these vast dry lands…
Off to play and party plan and revel in the weather…
(There is still oodles of time to sign up for the party - don't hesitate e-mailing me if you want to be on the list and you don't see your name, or if you don't want to be on the list and you see your name. I am a one woman show, and am bound to make an error or two or three)
🖤,V
ps: I LOVED this duck story yesterday!!
pss: Ever heard of a walking, talking, attitude wearing, rain and wind hatin', closet raiding pooch? She is so not amused with the out of the ordinary cool snap we are having. And rain? fahgetaboutit, anything that might tussle her blonde mane makes her positively sulky… 😉
Your posts just keep getting more and more enchanting and delightful!
Thanks for all the time and imagination used just to keep me amused…
V~
Oh my!!! Were the gypsy travelers really Beirut?? If so, oh my goodness!! I love their music. Nantes is one of my favorite songs. The above pics are really beautiful. You are such a great photographer!!
P.S. I sent the rain your way…We had rain for about 18 days straight and I said please please go visit Miss V and give her a break from the heat and sun 🙂

What a delightful post! Love the photos. You’re so clever. 🙂
Oh Vanessa, you little enchantress! I am SO ferociously loving the effect you used on these photos! As if I needed another reason to adore you. I have fallen madly in love with this little world of yours, seeing what you see through your magical eyes. You are beyond delightful – you are a decadent treat. **blows kisses** Deborah
I couldn’t agree more with everything the previous posters said. Always enchanting here. I needed a snap out of my bad/sad mood. Thanks girly.
Oh and put my name on the party list 🙂

Vanessa:
I’ve been away from the blogging world for two weeks. Your blog is the first one I’ve come to read. Oh how I needed it! How I wish I were a gypsy, or a girl with ruffles in the rain. I close my eyes and dream of taking a bath outdoors in the gypsy garden. Thank you for sharing your world.

Just the vacation I needed today V!!
xoxoxo
Oh, is she not absolutely stunning in her blue frocklet!!?
Yes, party anticipation is the BEST! I have not yet organized the ideas I have swirling around my head into a cohesive unit, but I will be READY.
I enjoyed this journey into another world and dancing with the gypsies. Since I feel I have some gypsy blood, I felt like I was home.
I can’t wait for the party. I’m going to actually read Alice in Wonderland. I’ve seen the disney version and various movies. Never read the actual book.
Oooo… I love journeys! I love rain too, it makes everything look so magical! Party!! I am so excited to be apart of it! Woo!!
It seems that someone has discovered photoshop actions. My little girl is growing up!
As I read this post I’m listening to the rain pouring down outside here, as well. :o)
My dog doesn’t like getting his feet wet in the grass. Big babies! And don’t you love ’em! Kiss your sweetie for me – I’m talking about the blonde with the blue hat!
What Lovely Photos!!!
I love that it’s raining here in AZ <3 Couldn't be happier, the wind, and brisk air, and happy little droplets of water falling from the sky! Wonderful!
Ahhhh Little Miss,
You got rain also?? We did the other night and then a bit the next day. It was ever so peculiar, as we are 5 or maybe 6 weeks away from the start of the rainy season!!?? Sadly 🙁 it wasn’t enough to convince the dry forest to start to sprout. Just enough to send the humidity up to 95% as a reminder of things to come!!
Pattie 😉

Your lovely blog filled with gorgeous photos, dreamy gypsy vacations, and lyrical writing is the best pain killer so far. I look forward to each new post as I always have the first page of a book I’ve been waiting too long to read. If I hadn’t become ill, I wouldn’t have fallen so far down into the rabbit hole and found you. Every day in spite of being sick, I find another silver lining. Such a gift your beautiful blog is to the blog world.
we have had THE heaviest rain here in sunny brisbane australia since the 1970’s flooding everywhere, my husbands school closed and we had to pick up our girls from their school as the roads were all closing. it is all over now but boy i do like a good drop of rain!!

Oh Fanciful One, can you teach me how to use my Photoshop (CS3), PLEASE! PlEasE! PleASE! Your photos are to die for with all their beautiful dreaminess about them. And the gypsy’s… well the gypsy’s…bathing in the outdoor tub. Silly gypsy boys :)! Did they bring home your treasures, but leave with much more? Where are they off to? Will they come to my door? Well, maybe not, but did they leave a trail of film for us to explore?
Such fun can always be found in our Fanciful world and I agree whole heartedly with Darling Deb, “you are a decadent treat!” and so sweet!!!!

The rain washes and refreshes and makes things brand new. A new light shines from within; echoing into the day and night. Ah what a gift the rain is! We were blessed with it too and oh what a treat! Now everything is invigorated and green. How lovely.
