Lovely Little Random Tid-bits…

Lovely little things surround us everyday.  Perhaps they are important things, yet easily slip our minds?

Forgetmenot 9

With that, here are a few discombobulated tid-bits on my mind…

As you know, there is this lovely Mad Hatter, Mister Romantic Super Manny that inhabits our little nook in Wonderland (of course he can be rotten too, but that is not the point here ;).

I wanted to tell you two lovely things regarding this gentleman…

Forgetmenot 6

I forgot to tell you, eeeps!  He made the print sale in my shop during the party possible.  He gifted me a roll of my special canvas with the intentions that I could extend a fun sale during the Mad Tea Party.

I am beyond delighted that I got the opportunity to print so many canvas sheets. It is so easy for me to forget how lovely the prints look.  So, it was a true reinvigorating art love gift to be able to print many out and enjoy them as I packaged.

Forgetmenot 7

Everyone was carefully packaged and lovingly sent off to their new homes this week…

But, before I veer, the second thing I wanted to tell you about curly head is, he is the reason an army of bun buns turned up on my doorstep for the party :)

Mad Tea Party 51

I don't know where he found them, but he came home with many many rabbits, who were set at my doorstep, with a note about the bunny army and where they came from (invented of course), written by the madman himself…

Forgetmenot 1

I thought that was super sweet and fun.

Speaking of flowers?  When he brings me flowers, or I cut flowers from my garden, I feel that that is the mere beginning of enjoying them.

Forgetmenot 11

I just love dry flowers.  In the early nineties I had an enormous collection of dried roses.  Then one day, I tossed them all out.

Forgetmenot 8

Yet, I find myself loving dried flowers ever more, all over again…  I love how the colors darken, and how the dried flowers start to look like paper art.

Forgetmenot 10

I am completely enamored with the whole process, from plump living flower, to cut flower, to dried specimen of beauty…

Forgetmenot 13

I also love that dried flowers sometimes hold tender memories.  Especially the flowers we press in books.  Do you do that?  I always try to press tiny flowers in my diaries or books.  I have been keeping a diary off and on since I was in 2nd grade.  And, there are several beloved pressed flowers in my diaries.

Forgetmenot 20

My adult diary was in a drawer here in the country, and although I have not written in it much this year, I had a vague recollection of a certain dried flower in it.  So that started a search…

Then I found it…

Forgetmenot 12

Slowly I opened the little hotel napkin that held a tender flower…

Forgetmenot 18

I swooned at the fact that I still had it.  I completely believe in making memories of times in my mind.  But sometimes, if I have a tender reminder, I can almost relive the moment…

As I flipped through my diary (which I rarely flip through, so that when I do, I find swoon worthy moments hidden inside) I found pictures that tickled my soul.

Forgetmenot 16

I realized how much things have changed in ten years.  The photo above, taken in Jerome, reminded me that 10 years ago, I carried a film camera.  Film.  Oh, how I miss film.  I spent many years in the dark room underground at the University of Arizona 13 years ago or so.  Developing my own negatives and my own photographs…  I think film is calling my name again…

I found a photo with the swing Mister Lovee put up for me on our second date all those years ago.  I painted it that same weekend.  How we enjoyed (and still do) swinging slowly and eating popsicles on that swing…

Forgetmenot 17

So, you see, lots of random tid-bits indeed.  My mind floats from thing to thing, so fast I can't keep up with it sometimes 😉

I have a friend who thinks diaries are terrible things to keep.  But, I guess I don't worry because I don't have any huge outrageous secrets, do I?    😉

I love my diaries.  I love the memories stuffed inside of them…

Forgetmenot 15

Annnyhow – as for vertigo.  I feel so much better, thank you ever so much for your kind words regarding my ailment.  To answer a frequent question, I think I wrote about this sometime ago, but the reason I have a discombobulated inner ear (left) is from a very scary horse fall w/concussion I had at 17.  I can't believe I survived that fall.  So, vertigo is okay as opposed to anything else I could have suffered (plus, I only get it once or twice a year)…  The vertigo spells I get are incredibly intense, but I see a doctor for it, and I am all better for now.  Yay!

And I am telling you, there is magic in the garden tub for helping me feel better.  Besides the fact that it is dreamy, I think there is something more to this…

Forgetmenot 14

The shape of my old ball and claw tub cradles my neck and head so wonderfully.  I wish homes still had such tubs.  They are truly therapeutic in their shape, me thinks…

Between the tub, and a manny, how can you not get better?  😉

He makes me plates of fruit and fruit juices…

Forgetmenot 4

Forgetmenot 3

We are such enablers ;)  If I am not babying him, he is babying me.  SO silly.  But I will say one thing, I prefer my fruit on a plate and not in a juice.  How do you take your fruit?

Forgetmenot 2

Speaking of fruit – I think I should bake a pie for tomorrow…

I hope you have a magical and delightful, but most of all, SAFE Independence day!!!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of july

See you super soooooon!!!

🖤,V

ps:  Do you enjoy the lovely Sade?  I found a box full of old cd's and all of hers were in there.  I just love her all over again.  This video is so pretty, but I really love all the older tunes, like this

  1. Rhonda Roo says:

    Well ok, it’s official.
I have a terrible confession (well not so much really).
Not only do I dream of a certain Mr. Teal Boots, but….I think I have a wee crush of the tenderest sort on your Mr. Lovee, Man who Sprinkles Sunshine in the form of broods of bunnies and blank canvas, and sweet secret stories and the really good groceries and mad hats & striped socks…
delivering soft silky petals and luscious fruits, and lending a hand to all manner of dancing in the moonlight and gypsy gardens and underground soirees….
    🙂
    On the other hand…
i have a Cowboy who oh so carefully delivers the virgin cuppa coffee, fresh ground, fresh brewed, in an ancient bone china coffee cup and saucer, with his giant cowboy hands, while i am still in bed, every single solitary morning, and who leaves flowers in the most unusual places, and does a thousand crazy things because we’re loony together, in that good kinda best friend lovah loony way, so
i will just feel all gooey for the 2 of U, Lovee + Dovee, from afar, and say
    Aint love Grand???????
    🖤~~~☺~~~🖤
    Viva amor!

  2. I’ve kept diaries too since I was merely five or six 🙂 🙂
and photographed since forever but I so do NOT miss film!

  3. Hoping you & yours have a wonderful 4th of July holiday weekend!
    Chris 🙂

  4. pam aries says:

Bonjour! How are youuu? So sorry to have missed the Tea Party! Late Late Late…just like that persnifferous old White Rabbit. anyway…I think I’m back,,haha! Love you twirly girly!

  5. Lady P says:

love your photos and your magical world

  6. Kylee Ward says:

    V~
Happy Friday!! I’m so happy that you are feeling better 🙂 My favorite pic of the post was the army of bunnies…too cute for words!!
Oh AND your pics of fruit is seriously making me salivate. I’m with you with fruit on a plate rather than in a juice. It just tastes different. I think I’m going make a run to the store to snatch up some fresh fruit..yum….I could go for some strawberries and sugar 🙂
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!!
    Kylee

  7. I love being able to peek into your romance with Mr. Lovee. He is wonderful, as are you.

  8. Velvet Brick says:

OH, such sweet tidbits and tales from a love that is pure of heart…. Diaries are wonderful because there are no rules with them…they wait for you when you are ready, if you are. Your tucked-in treasures are sweet tickets down memory lane, as well. I would give my eye-teeth…well, maybe not my teeth, but I’d give something of value to have my own claw-foot tub out in my back yard garden in which to laze in with petals and rosemary and a parade of clouds above to watch…. ahhh…. So glad your days are filled upright and fruitfull!

  9. Maria Grimes says:

    Hi Vanessa!
I’m so glad you are feeling better…I can’t even imagine!
When you get a chance don’t forget to send me your mailing address, have a happy 4th!
    Maria

  10. Sarah says:

    Hi Vanessa!
Lovely memories it sounds like in your diaries. You and Mr Lovee are made for each other! I love your use of the word ‘discombobulated’-I forget about it and then you use it and it makes me smile!
    Have a lovely weekend-happy 4th July-and enjoy the pie!
    Sarah x

  11. tattingchic says:

I think your Mr Curly Head is just so very perfect for you! I think he’s a sweetheart! Those bunnies are so very cute. I thought that they were photo shopped in! LOL!

  12. Kathy in Chicago says:

Fruit. Over icecream, in a bowl, blended in a smoothie…ummmm……. Love it All! This post, my dear. Post the word is just wrong here. You have written something here that absolutely stirred my very soul. True love is like that when you see it. I think, anyway. I loved your phrase, “unbearable romance.” It is sometimes, isnt it? In a long relationship there are moments when the clarity of love comes slamming back in like the tide. It’s amazing, and wonderful, and breathtaking.
Like fireworks only better. Happy 4th to you both! – Kathy in Chicago

  13. sadira says:

I think I have Sade playing in my car right now! People use to call me Sade because our names are spelled similarly (when people called me Sadie that is) I am thrilled you are feeling better! I am also just smitten with the bunny army…how delightful. Also, when I moved in with my EX, we lived in a HUGE Victorian mansion (it was apartmented out) and we had a GINORMOUS claw foot tub, and we could both fit in it at the same time…the spigot came out of the middle of it, so we could relax together…and float around. I am kind of wondering if we were thinner maybe? Or maybe it’s just that first budding romance…

  14. Yes romance, very dreamy and something to always stop and remember. Even when sometimes, a wee bit of the times, mr. right is a butthead lol. I used to have a diary but I only kept it to write out all my teen angst. So I burned it when I was ready to let go and be happy. I love photos though, theyre my favorite memory makers.
As far as fruit, I like it any way, but especially in pie. yumyum! I hope you dont mind, Ive added you to my favorite blogs list. I visit you every day or two waiting for your next post. You are great!
You two also have a very safe and happy fourth, and thank you for hosting such a fun party. -HurricaneKassi

  15. shari says:

dear vanessa (can i just say how i love your name?!) i love being able to peek in on you and your mr. lovee… you two make me smile. so i just keep peeking in and smiling… i love fresh fruit…my favorite is eating it right off the vine/tree/bush. and i DO love it in a smoooooothie! thanks for the round of partying… i had a blast!

  16. Lovely post as always — I love them all.
And my random thing that I noticed this time… the beauty of the pink satin ribbon (double-sided?) — I’m a sucker for lovely ribbon.

  17. Shell says:

Mr. Lovee rocks for finding you all those bunnies and making a swing for you on your second date.
Your pie looks so delicious.I still dream of your baklava..one day I will taste it.
Sade is one of my all time faves. She is working on a new cd. I think it will be out later this year or early next. Something to look forward to.
    Have a happy 4th.

  18. Chrissi says:

You never fail to make me think about things I may have forgotten, or notice things that I may have skipped right over… It’s almost like looking at my everyday life with a fresh pair of eye’s… Thank you sooooo very much for the amazing way you have of making me SLOW down and look around me. Also, I LOVE Sade but I haven’t heard her for years… Yet another infusion of things once loved, brought back into focus because of your influence… You amaze me!!!

  19. JO says:

A keeper…. that Mr of yours is… Its rare to find devotion like that …and such a joy to tune in and watch your love story unfold…. Makes us all want a Mr Lovee if we dont have one already…
Have a HAPPY FOURTH!! Enjoy the pie too
    LOTS OF HUGS
    JO

  20. Katelen Tays says:

You always have such wonderful posts..I love them all.
    Katelen

  21. Cori. G says:

Your Mister Lovee is such the romantic!!! A swing for your second date? All I got was a kick in the head…oh! Sorry! That was the third date…LOL! But your Mister Lovee certainly knows how to make a girl go weak in the knees ;-). Maybe you’re not REALLY suffering from vertigo, but continual swooniness. Your are truly his “V.” Valentine that is.
Happy Fourth of July sweet darling you!!!!
    oxxo Cori

  27. Mo'a says:

He is definitely a keeper…and you my dear deserve no less.
Love the bunnies…and I bet the story was great also.
As I was reading your post My Prince brought me a big glass of fresh fruit and veg juice. He likes to make them and takes great care in selecting the fruit and he always uses fresh ginger in it for health 🙂 I also like to nibble on a plate of fruit and more often than not that is my lunch.
I have a confession to make…I am on Facebook *gasp* I though it safe as my Husband said to me “Do you think your old boyfriends are still alive?” I forgave him that age prejudiced remark and singed up…truthfully my friends and family across the pond kept hounding me and I signed up in self defense.
I may be tweeting soon…and Flickring…not that I don’t have other things to do 🙂 I just think it is time I get with the times 🙂

  28. Allie says:

What a treasure you have in Mr. Lovee. The two of you have such a magical romance. I love reading about the two of you….it always makes me smile 😀 This September is my 22 year anniversary to “Big Daddy” and he still brings me flowers at the most unexpected times. Aren’t we lucky girls to have found our soul mates?
    Happy 4th, Vanessa!
    ~Allie

  29. Krista Komis says:

OOh I’m so glad you’re feeling better! Dried flowers…they are lovely wonderful things. I still have some dried roses from 2 years ago that I just couldn’t bear to throw out. I love how the petals curl under and the color changes. I, too have loads of diaries. Sometimes people thought I was a little crazy, frantically writing like a madwoman in my diaries, but who knows what I will discover about myself 5, 10, 20 years from now? Memories you just can’t replace.

  30. karen cox says:

Happy 4th of July Vanessa. Another romantic and inspiring post. I have journals filled with so many memories. These secret places are magical, and they get even more precious the older you get.
So, glad that you are feeling better.
    Karen

  31. Paris Parfait says:

I love it that you and Mr. L are so attune to each other, even when it comes to imagination and whimsy! The army of bun-buns is priceless! Not to mention all the other thoughtful gestures (fruit on a plate, please). Just back from Amsterdam and as you know, was so sorry to have missed your delightful tea party. Will be back soon to catch up and read all about it. xoxox

  32. Paris Parfait says:

P.S. Sorry about your vertigo – hope you’re having a fabulous 4th of July celebration! xoxox

    Vanessa
I too love dried flowers. I had an arrangement that disappeared from my room.
    Where did it go???
I asked my darling Mr. and
he said he thought he was helping me so he threw them away.
    “They were dead”….
lol he’s from the old school.

  35. Meghann says:

Oh how romantic he is, to bring you flowers and bunnies and take care of you when you are feeling low. He is definitely a keeper 🙂
I am SO glad you feel better and I love your photographic perspectives, and your subjects – so feminine yet not too girly…just a hint of darkness to keep everything ‘real’. Your blog is a feast for my eyes, and a welcome bringer of smiles 😀
    Meghann

  36. elizabeth says:

    Hi Vanessa!
I got a scolding from the Mad Hatter for mixing up my days and then going on vacation over my birthday….thereby missing my tea party post…the whole month of June felt like I was in my own sort of vertigo.(I am so glad you are feeling better!) The ocean has made ME feel better…rejuvenating my tired soul(and I really needed that)I just know you will forgive me for being very, very late.(won’t you?)
I’ve also been drying flowers! I just recently started doing it again after many years. I’ve been drying lots and lots of roses…and I do press flowers in books too. Once, I found a rose petal in the dictionary that I had placed there ages ago as a teen… on the page listing LOVE…of course 🙂
I even posted some dried roses in my (very late) tea party pics. It always makes me smile when you blog about something I am also doing at the moment. It feels like serendipity when I notice these little blog “connections” to others in the blogosphere…people I’ve never met in the “real” world. Maybe the dream world is the connection??…Perhaps I’ve “seen” you in a crowded outdoor market buying figs, in the dining car of a train in the 20’s…on the rowdy, crowded planks on board a sailing pirate ship…
    Elizabeth

  37. karin says:

    Dear Vanessa,
glad that you feel better again. And it’s so good to read that you and your mr. are so sweet to eachother. That’s the way it’s supposed to be, no?
I wish you many more sweet and tender memories for the future.

  40. carolee says:

My head is still in the clouds from the Most Magical Mad Tea Party, and I drop by for a visit to find more magic still…
I love dried flowers too – just picked a TON of lavender from my front walkway, which is now hanging on a drying rack in my kitchen (the lavender, not the walkway). 😉
And how wonderful and romantic is that swing?! I’ll tell you what, any man who builds you swing on the second date sounds like a keeper to me!
So glad you’re feeling better, and thanks for sharing the magic!!
    ~ Carolee

  41. I’m so happy you are feeling so much better. Yes I do save flowers. I find I don’t have as much time to write in my journal as I’d like. I do still have my grandmother’s when she met my grandfather…o so romantic!! You have a keeper with your Manny. Hugs. Barb

  42. Nicole says:

I like my fruit on a plate as well. I’m glad you are feeling better!

  43. Glad you are feeling better. I have another gf who has severe cases of vertigo also and she has had to spend days in bed, in a dark room suffering through the headaches and imbalance. Thank the goddess for medication.
I’m a fan of fruit in any form – plain, on a plate, in a boat with a goat. I’ll eat it here. I’ll eat it anywhere. ‘;)

  44. inge says:
