Hi, it's me Milos! I survived my first human holiday excursion!
As you can tell, I changed my name. It is technically Milo, but I am calling myself Milos for now (pronounced Meelos), because I am feeling rather worldly with all my traveling these days.
Auntie V, Mister Lovee and I just returned from part 1 of our holiday trip to Dadley's and Granny Bon Bon's. I had a blast. We even went to see Nana Josephina, Grandpa Pedro and all the cousins and Aunts and Uncles (and plus ones).
I was so excited to tell you all about it, but Auntie V is already making art and working on a fun commission while washing and cleaning, all at the same time.
So, I figured out how to use her computer, so I could share my holiday adventures. You know, solely from my perspective. Maybe fill you in on some secrets and stuff. I also got a hold of her holiday pictures. Want to take a peek?
It all started with a car ride about two hours away to Granny Bon Bon's (aka Mombie) & Dadley's. We had a beautiful Christmas Eve dinner. Then, Granny let me stay at the Inn in her wee village. I think I scared everyone at first. Can you spot me in the photos below?
I was having a great time. Minding my own business. Being my personable self. Letting the family listen to music and sing while Mister Lovee played…
And, that is when, drama found me. I promise, I wasn't in search of it. It has a way of finding this bug, all by itself…
You see, I saw an angel. Well actually, she was a fairy, but to me she was an angel…
I felt my heart fall out of my chest and hit the moss. This was no ordinary fairy. She was gentle and quiet. Only problem was, she was also totally disinterested.
Hmmmph. My heart was broken.
But, I had to snap out of it. It was Christmas Eve, and we were supposed to be jolly, and celebrating the life of a babe…
I tell ya, it was beautiful, being there in the manger.
Sigh…
Just as I was feeling good about myself, being a good bug you know, I spotted them…
The shoes that were worn by the kind of woman I needed. They were gold, they were tall, they were audacious.
They were leopard print.
That woman in those shoes was just the kind of woman I needed to whip me into shape…
I sat on the tip of one of her shoes, and spilled out all the sonnets I knew. I gave my heart to her. It was melted, it was like chocolate fudge on a sundae.
But, that is when I noticed, she was carrying her one and only beloved in a red blanket.
Her heart belonged to another.
Snoop Dog's little Brother, Dougie Fresh…
The girl in the gold leopard stilettos told me that she could love us both. But you and I both know, that never works.
So, I decided to leave love behind again. And go to bed, wait for Santa, and ground my heart. I must attempt to control that fluttering wandering heart of mine.
I went to sleep and dreamed of Roweena Rabbit, and how I told her I loved her. But, she was so far away. She would understand if I gave my heart to another…
Wouldn't she?
Anyhow, on Christmas day (after we opened gifts and such), Auntie V had champagne for breakfast with her siblings. The girl who used to dance in discotheques, and suck up drinks that were on fire (through straws) with names like Cucarachas, couldn't even handle one Mimosa. It's true, that she had had two previous nights of no sleep at all. But still…
So, while she slept, Mister Lovee and I went hiking and peeked in at old mines and such. I didn't take the camera with me.
When we returned, Granny Bon Bon was cutting 4 inches off of Auntie V's hair, while auntie V hiccuped from the champagne.
Auntie V and Granny Bon Bon adore each other, and make a wonderful comedy show, I tell ya!
Granny was saying things like, "Why do you have layers in the back of your hair? Did you have layers cut into your hair? Your hair was solid down to your waist on Thanksgiving!?"
And - Auntie V (who loathes layers in the back of her hair, but likes it on others) said things, in her pitiful girl comedy tone like, "please don't traumatize me anymore than I already am (insert hiccup), I can do that to myself bad enough, without help from anyone."
Then they both laughed like school girls. Auntie V severely dislikes cutting her hair when not necessary, but it seemed, some layers had snuck in. So Granny gave her a blunt 4 inch trim, which remedied the layers just like that.
Bliss.
Auntie V was in 3 nightgowns, standing outside Granny Bon Bon's fancy 4 head complex shower without a door thingamabob, hosing herself and everyone else down, attempting to wash her hair without getting fully into the shower. All this while Granny Bon Bon screamed because she was getting soaked too.
Auntie V ended up taking a whole shower in the end, even though she had already had one and blow dried her hair the night before.
It was hilarious.
All was well in the end, and no one could even tell Auntie V had cut a smidge off her hair. Of course, she could.
Girls are so weird. I mean, who really cares about hair?
Soooo, with that, we headed to Nana's. Time for some real authentic eating. I tell ya, those people put lime and chili on everything. Even their candy has chili on it…
So, there I was sitting with Nana by the warm stove, enjoying my steamed taquitos and my tamales, my buñuelos and my menudo -
When I saw a face so soft, I dropped to my knees. My heart pounded, I couldn't speak. She scooped me up and said "Aweee, what a cutie." Then she squeezed me.
It was love.
Pure love.
Sweet love.
I asked her, if she could love me, care for me. Maybe, put me in her great big doll house to sleep in a warm bed?
She looked at me as though I was insane. She said, "But my doll house is full??!!"
I asked her, if she was in love already? Then she said the worst words I had ever heard.
She said "EWEEE, boys are stinky!!"
She was too young for me.
She didn't understand.
I sat and wept.
I wept on a curtain of black silk.
I leaned on a warm tree.
But then I realized. It wasn't a warm tree, it wasn't black silk! It was the hair and the arm of a lovely maiden.
It was…
The woman of my dreams.
I was sure of it this time.
I had been confused before.
But, this time, it was for keeps.
She was Auntie V's cousin. She was high spirited. She was witty and funny and baked 22 different cookies for the holidays. She was a keeper.
She agreed to love me back, just like that. Her exact words were "Aha, sure, oh ya, I'll love you Mister Bugaboo…"
I can count on her love, can't I?
When it was time to go, she kissed me and said, see you soon.
But will I ever see her again?
Will I have to suffer from a love sick heart my whole life???
Tell me. Am I one sick bug?
As we drove away, far from the village where Auntie V grew up…
I thought, maybe I should just mind my own business and take up crafting? This love business is way too complicated. Auntie V crocheted two hats on Sunday, and I didn't see her sticking her nose into any love business or anything like that. She just crocheted away…
So, I made a garland out of real stars that I plucked right out of the sky. I think I love crafting. It might really keep me out of trouble…
And so, that's what's goin' on around here…
How have you been?
Oops, here comes Auntie V, don't tell her I was here…
Love, Milos (aka Milo)
ps: Auntie V is working on some really fun things. I heard her say that she can't wait to share them.

well rascally Milos, it looks like you had a dreamy rose tinted christmas that most can only dream of. good luck finding love, it IS as wonderful as it sounds xxx
Tell auntie V we miss her here on our side of the world and await her next adventure with much anticipation : )
Hello, sweet Miss V
I absolutely LUV the drawing (you did?) of Meelos. The colors are so perfectly, enchanting. I have a soft spot for the name Milo because it was the name of my fourth grade boyfriend, whom I shall never, ever forget…young love…I guess that was what Meelos was experiencing over the holiday visit…young love…it is so pure and innocent as a baby’s bottom with talcum power on it…hee hee! Looking forward to the seeing the secret goodies you have been cooking up…
Love all the pictures but I just gotta say…you are sooo beautiful! 🙂
xox
Dear Miss Vanessa,
I was so happy to read about Milos’ lovely Christmas adventure! I have always thought it was a very romantic time of the year! My own dear Mr. V and I had a very dreamy date one year two nights before Christmas!
As always, your posts enchant me! I hope you and all your loved ones of the human, doggie and buggie varieties have a wonderful New Year!
Big hugs to you!
Betty
Adorable! Milos, you are quite the storyteller! Very entertaining (shh, don’t tell V). Sounds like the perfectly perfecto Christmas (if you overlook the broken heart).
I think Auntie V should write a children’s book of her own (in her five minutes of spare time, of course, considering her hectic schedule). Maybe you could encourage her?
xoxox
I enjoyed reading this very enchanting story. I agree with Tara, you definitely should write a children’s book. I’d buy it!
I care about hair!
Mine was really really long and the hairdresser was only supposed to cut 2 cm but cut 5 instead! I don’t know if she measures by inches or what. I would get over it if she hadn’t also cut part of my hair shorter than the rest – gah! Whoever heard of having one layer on one side of your head? Now I’m getting all upset again. I think hairdressers hate hair and want it gone.
Milos my dollies love you already! they said you’d be welcome here anytime!(if Panda prince isn’t too jealous…).
Xo
Such a funny one you are! Making me laugh during my morning coffee… hehehe…
Tell Milo if he needs a hot babe I am ready… willing and able…. seems like my kind of guy… adoring… devoted… and can barely talk back….
LOTS OF HUGS
JO
Oh Milos, you’ll find love one day 😉 If it doesn’t work out between you and Auntie V’s cuz that is, tee hee! It looks like you had a marvelous Christmas…I couldn’t think of a better family to spend it with…what fun!
Jamie 🙂
p.s. don’t worry, I won’t tell Auntie V that you snuck on her blog to tell your tale…it was quite lovely 😉
Applause…what a great adventure Milos had…you should write childrens books! My mouth drooled over the mention of bunuelos and menudo…mmmmm
Happy New Year…
Oh…what a wonderful extra guest to bring to the party indeed and I’m so delighted that he’s having such a wonderful time (love is such a wonderful way to fall for the holidays isn’t it?!) ON another note…I hope Auntie V and Auntie K (and Dougie Fresh Doggie) are all getting lots of hugs and kisses…and the hair wasn’t too tragic (I’m a girl. I totally get these things!)

Your pictures are divine Miss V (or should I say Milos!). Thank you for sharing that fun.
Enjoy the day!

Oh. My. Goodness. I had no idea that Milos was such a CAD! Falling for Granny Bon Bon I completely understand. Vanessa, all of these photos are pure magic. I love your Christmas posts, especially of your Mombie’s home. What a magical group of Royal Gypsies your family is. That photo of you taking a photo is fresh out of a romantic fantasy…you look like the beautiful princess heroine who saves everyone she meets with simply the grace of her smile. You are so incredibly talented and use your gifts so wisely. You bring so much Joy and adventure into the hearts of all who visit your magical wonderland. You, my dear, are most definitely a Little Keeper of the Promise, falling on the souls the drought has dried. (Rich Mullins) Oh how my spirit soars every time I visit you. I have yet to write you that letter, explaining what you mean to me…that blessed day over a year ago when I landed in this magical place and felt my spirit SOAR. We all come here, me, Cori, Rhonda, and play like little girls again, with our beloved teacher, the Master of all things magical. I can never thank you enough. **blows merry kisses** Deb
ahhhh, such a perfect holiday tale! That shot of limes…my favorite
Happy New year to you and your world!!

Hugging you and Miss V. too
SueAnn
Meelos, daahhling. Do stay on at the Gypsy Ranch. What with all the comings and goings of the roving gypsies, I know you’re true love will arrive. Soon, daahhling, soon.
Vanessa and Milo you two are just too funny for words…
I always love your posts and look forward to each new one.
Sounds like you are having a beautiful Holiday.
I spent mine with my husband and son… Beautiful, quiet, movies, too much to eat…
Then after Christmas we went to Seattle and stayed in a little boutique motel… that served wine and brandy apple cider in their lobby.
It was so great to see all the shoppers and street performers out in droves… I’m a real people watcher… so I plunked myself down at a coffee shop by the window and just observed…
As much as the season is delightful I’m glad it’s over and I can considerate on the new year ahead…
Wishing you and everyone you know a Very Happy New Year~: )
Pattee

Que Paso mon amis, Milos and Princess V. hee hee!!! Me thinks me language is mixed up indeed!!!
Oh how I long to go to Granny Bon Bon’s and visit with all the beautiful faces and see all the beautiful places. Did you really get that much snow? It look just like a Faerie Wonderland of old 😉 And our little bugaboo must have felt like he’d died and been surrounded by angels of the most beautiful kind. But then his heart was broken in two…and to think it happened because of a pair of shoes ;-O. Maybe we should buy him a stuffed leopard and hope he doesn’t know the difference…oops! Don’t let him hear what I just said because I know he has the most excellent hearing for such a small bug.
I wuv you…hicup…hee hee!!
wuv to you from me!!!
Oh! Tis so true what darling Deb said, “we all love to come over and play and dance around the gypsy tree.”
🙂 Cori
…With our most beloved Fanciful V.
(pardon me for swearing on your blog)
ohsweetjesus, vanessa!! where in the world will i start here?
okay, first your hats. they are great. fantastic. amazing. creative. i too love trader joe’s bags. do you think that alone makes us instant friends?
okay, next. granny bon bon. is there any better love than the love of a granny bon bon and a ms. v? the answer is no, absolutely not. i am not sure of many things but i am very sure of this. reading about this love even exceeded the joy of remediated hair layers.
next: milos. i know my math: i know that love multiplies and not divides. our milo (see how i have to include myself at this point but vanessa, he did LIVE with me afterall. i let him sleep with me and i even shared my pillow. okay, no, i did not include pictures of that on my blog but only because i don’t think my-bed pictures are appropriate)
anyway, vanessa, i know that deborah is encouraging roweena to hook up with paul. i think she thinks it’;s time for paul to have a meaningful love relationship. but roweena has sent herself to arizona to wait for milo’s return. i’ve seen them together, vanessa, and really, it might be true abiding love–roweena and milo! i wouldn’t be surprised. i’m just sayin’….just so you know.
last: your blog is now officially one of my favorites. you are the most fun. in a lowered voice, not quite a whisper: if i asked you to be my heart sister, would you mind?
note to deborah: you know wonderful people. thanks for sharing. i think you rock too….
kj
‘drama found me’ haHA!! love to hear from Milos! Isn’t love grand? And apparently, this is the time for guest bloggers, as I have one this week, too…
Happy New Year, VanessaPie!!
XOXOXOXOXOXOX!
Milo hit the jackpot with you! I am in awe!
looks like Milo had a wonderful wonderful Christmas. Don’t think he could have been at a more magical place!
