I am not sure why or how this came to be?
I was a horrid, rotten self centered child, so who knows?
Love does it, perhaps?
Anyhow…
There I was, tra-la-la-ing around.
Minding my own business.
Keeping myself entertained whilst Lovee suffered a beautiful weekend in bed.
Picking roses, cooking, baking, collecting mint leaves for a hug pot of hot tea.
Painting, stringing pearls, playing with pups.
And then, it hit me.
That old 1957 Ford truck in the yard!?
The one Mister Lovee used to drive ages ago.
That should…
Possibly maybe…
Perchance?
BE MINE!

Cotton candy pink, or muted light teal with pink cabbage roses painted on the doors?

At the wheel…
Bashing around, to and fro.
Imagine?
Going here and there in my pink or teal truck?
Oh ya.
I can feel it.
So, I took a proper opportunity, you know…
Sort of like when I was a kid, and my dad and his brothers would be outside listening to oldies and drinking beer, and I would be like, hey dad, can I have some money?
And he would give me everything in his wallet, cuz he was too beer happy to know better 😉
Sometimes it was quite a lot of dough for a kid.
So, as Mister Lovee lay coughing and sneezing up a storm…

The truck should be painted all cute, and given to me?
Being such a good nurse and all.

With sick eyes closed, he eeked out a tinge of a smile and nodded yes.

(insert evil grin, bwahahaha!)
I better start saving my pennies, so I can restore my new truck.
Hehehe.
I wonder if he will still say yes when he feels better?

Kinda Sorta.
Once, well, more than once…
My parents went on a business trip, and left us with a nanny/housekeeper, and I took my dad’s big red monster truck out joy riding.
I was about 15 or 16.
I had two best friends growing up, they were boys.
Aaron and Hector.
We did everything together.
We spent every waking moment of our summers up to pure mischief.
So, one day when the parental units were away, Aaron came over, and I had a grand plan to take the monster truck out.
I could hardly get in, it was so tall.
It was a dull tomato red, horrid thing.
And, what I didn’t know at the time, was that it wasn’t working.
So, I went hunting for the keys in my dad’s drawers, and off we went.
Me and Aaron in the big red truck.
5 feet of me, perhaps less at the time, driving this thing.
Gargantuan gear shift, clutch and all.
As we got down the road, I noticed that the steering wheel pulled really hard to the left.
And…
Get this.
Every time it pulled to the left, the steering wheel would let out a HUGE HONK!
I mean huge.
So, there we were on a bumpy dirt road, laughing, getting only stations playing Spanish polka on the radio, and the steering wheel honking every 8 seconds.
Bonk, BONK.
Us laughing so hard.
Me freaking out and laughing and trying to shift.
Trying to get the darned thing back home.
If I could handle that, I can handle this ’57 Ford.
I think I will need some backing to get Mister Lovee to say yes when not ill.
You think I should have it, don’t you?

Let’s remind him why it is, that I should have a perfectly lovely cotton candy truck.

Remind me to tell you about the time I snuck out the window, and took my mom’s boat size white Lincoln town car (with a faux convertible top, remember those crazy things?) joy riding.
It was like steering a ship.
My parents were pretty strict, so I was always grounded.
But now, time to convince Lovee to hand over the keys!

I have always wanted either an old truck or a purple Chevy Chevelle SS. Not sure why, but I love kooky trucks and muscle cars.

Oh my, that truck is a beauty. I have been asking my hubbs for an old farm truck for years….we just can’t seem to find the right one. Oh, how I would love one with a beautiful wooden box on the back…for taking farm produce around to sell! Wouldn’t that be wonderful??? And you could sell your flowers from the back of yours!! Mr. Lovee won’t change his mind…of that I am sure!

That is such a fantastic idea and I can see you driving around with Matty and Miles hanging their heads out the window, rose petals floating out of the back! My granddaddy had a truck like that. I always wanted to drive it but he would never let me. 🙁

For those that care about such things, that old thing that looks like a beat up farm truck is fitted with the original 292 hp 8 cylinder engine with headers & a 4 barrel carb. It’s very fast. A trade off for the 8 miles per gallon it gets. So, one day I was at a stop light & some kid pulls up along side in a souped up Mustang with the air cleaner atop its large carb sticking out above the hood. So he starts reving it up making that great sound muscle cars make. He certainly wanted everyone to know he had the most powerful ride in town.

Oh my goodness. A 1955 Chevy step-side truck is totally on my dream list. It’s aqua and has a wooden bed (not at all practical in Ohio).

I think the truck should definitely be yours… Cotton candy pink, but glittery, too… Or fleck, as the auto body guys say. If I get gramps to give me his, we can be vintage truckers together and go cruising down the driveway. I want my truck to be red glittery with a gold stearing wheel.

Oh yes! It is perfect and would be adorable all painted up in sea foam green or cotton candy pink! And then every time I see an old pink truck cruisin down the road I will be like there goes Miss V off on some delightful errand or lovely adventure!
Pink has to be the color for the Chevy. Mr. Lovee let Lady V have her Pink wagon and go on beautiful adventures in it.
Ooo…what a wonderful idea. Another idea – maybe not roses on the truck but subtle angel wings with feathers over the hood and down the fenders (like they do with flames) – you know, tone on tone in pink & soft metallic. I saw that idea on a pale pink sports car except she had clouds.
OH MY GOSH, YES! YOU NEED THAT TRUCK. THAT TRUCK NEEDS YOU! Hahaha. I can totally see you in it also —There you are *HONK-HONKING* and waving to people, driving down the road with the windows down and your long, blond hair blowin’ in the wind. As you pass by a friend, they wave back and then see your truck — a crazy painted thing with roses and a beautiful beaded rosary around the rear-view mirror. What a vision, and the both of you can’t help but laugh and smile. Now, the question is, what would you be playing on the radio at the time? Ah, yes…think on that as well.
BTW, I meant to add: I learned how to drive on an old truck too and it was very similar; a 1949 Ford International. It was my father’s truck and it was a beauty — well, the color was dark avocado green but it was slick and glossy, because he had it restored. When I see one now, I get goosebumps, thinking back on the fun we had in that awesome truck. 🙂
